Rita Wilson Honors 32nd Marriage Anniversary To Her ‘Love’ Tom Hanks—’Let’s Go 32 More’

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are a well known power couple in Hollywood and their lasting marriage has always appeared rock solid.

In honor of their 32nd wedding anniversary on April 30, Rita posted to Instagram declaring her love for her husband, and wishing for at least another 32 more years together. It’s beautiful to see any love shared publicly, but especially one of Hollywood’s favorite couples.

Sharing a beautiful photo of the two of them surrounded by snowy mountains, the couple are embracing side by side and have warm smiles on their faces—their love and respect for each other is apparent solely from this photo.

She then captioned the post with a moving tribute, writing: “32 years with this guy! @tomhanks Happy Anniversary, my love. Let’s go 32 more and then some!” The couple married on April 30, 1988 and have two sons together, 29-year-old Chet and Truman, who is 24. Hanks is also father to two children from a previous relationship—Colin, 42, and Elizabeth Ann, 37.

Rita, who is 63-years-old, appeared on Kelly Clarkson’s daytime talk show earlier in the month and revealed that Tom’s talkative character was “one of the things, when we met, that we just got along instantly,” Wilson told Clarkson.

“First of all, I love a good storyteller,” she added. “So anybody who could tell a good story, I’m down with that…I love that. He makes me laugh all the time. He’s a great storyteller.”

The couple has been a fixture in Hollywood for decades, not only for their individual work as successful actors and filmmakers but for their accolades too.

Speaking at the Outfest Legacy Awards in Los Angeles in 2015, Tom discussed his relationship with Rita and how they keep it going.

As detailed by People magazine, Hanks joked that he “still can’t believe my wife goes out with me.” He added: “If we were in high school and I was just funny, I’d never have the courage to talk to her…I wish there was a secret, you know; we just like each other. You start there.” Very wise words from a couple whose marriage is in it’s fourth decade!

In the same interview he suggested that “no one should get married before they’re 30,” before adding: “They say it must be hard work—no, it’s not. Every now and again, you know, you gotta get over some stuff, but life is one damn thing after another and it’s actually more pleasant to be able to go home with someone you like to spend time with in order to get with it.”

Well, it’s clear from both of their discussions on marriage that Rita and Tom have a very healthy idea of what makes it work and clearly that shows in their 32-year-long union. Congratulations and all the best to them!

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have returned home to the United States after testing positive for COVID-19, the novel coronavirus, in Australia.

The “Cast Away” actor took to his Twitter account to announce the good news after he and Wilson spent more than two weeks in Queensland self-isolating.

“Hey, Folks…We’re home now and, like the rest of America, we carry on with sheltering in place and social distancing. Many, many thanks to everyone in Australia who looked after us. Their care and guidance made possible our return to the USA. And many thanks to all of you who reached out with well wishes. Rita and I so appreciate it. Hanx,” the actor tweeted.

Hanks and Wilson, both 63, kept their fans updated throughout their quarantine process since first revealing their positive diagnosis on March 11.

“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive,” the 63-year-old actor first revealed in a statement on Twitter.

He continued, “Well, now. What to do next?  The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves!”

The couple reportedly stayed in a hospital in Queensland for five days before being released. Hanks was in Australia filming an untitled Elvis Presley biopic directed by Baz Luhrmann when he and Wilson learned they contracted the coronavirus.

The film has since halted production.

One week following the couple’s diagnosis, Hanks took to his social media to update fans on their symptoms.

“Hey folks. Good News: One week after testing Positive, in self-isolation, the symptoms are much the same. No fever but the blahs,” Hanks revealed. “Folding the laundry and doing the dishes leads to a nap on the couch.”

Hanks then told fans that Wilson had beat him in six straight hands of gin rummy.

“But I have learned not to spread my Vegemite so thick,” he said referencing fans’ reactions to a previous post showing his generous helping of Vegemite on toast.

“I traveled here with a typewriter, one I used to love. We are all in this together. Flatten the curve,” Hanks concluded the post, which showed the typewriter he referenced.

The couple’s son, Chet Hanks, also kept fans updated through the process, taking to his social media after the Hollywood stars left the hospital to assure fans they were “feeling a lot better.”

Wilson turned to music during her time in isolation, prompting the creation of a playlist she shared on Spotify that she named “Quarantunes” following a survey she conducted with fans on her Instagram account.

Other celebrities who have since confirmed they tested positive for COVID-19 include Idris Elba, Debi Mazar and Daniel Dae Kim, among others.

Rita Wilson Rapping Hip Hop Hooray From Quarantine Is The Update Everyone Was Waiting For – UNILAD

Rita Wilson Rapping Hip Hop Hooray From Quarantine Is The Update Everyone Was Waiting For

Ever since we found out Rita Wilson and husband Tom Hanks tested positive for COVID-19, fans around the world have been waiting patiently for updates on the couple’s condition.

So far, those updates have tended to come from Hanks: in the form of selfies, public service announcements, or horrifying images which prove just how much Vegemite the actor puts on his toast.

Now though, Wilson has gotten in on the action, posting an incredible video of her rapping Hip Hop Hooray by Naughty By Nature while in self-isolation.

For those wondering whether she did the full rap – all four minutes of it – I can confirm that yes, yes she did. And impressively, I don’t think she made a single mistake in that time. Or none that I could spot anyway.

Wilson started the video – posted to Instagram – by pretending to read sci-fi novel Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, when all of a sudden the 1992 hip hop hit started playing in the background.

The actor then proceeded to rap along with the hip hop trio, complete with a few head nods and hand gestures, before picking up her book again once the song has finished.

Wilson captioned the video, ‘Quarantine Stir Crazy. See it to believe it,’ implying she’s had a lot of spare time to truly hone her rapping skills. But hey, at least she’s not spending her time eating a ridiculous amount of Vegemite, right?

Obviously, everybody loved her efforts, with many Hollywood A-listers getting in on the action and commenting on her post to praise her.

Jennifer Aniston commented: ‘Yessssssss R Greeky!’ while Kris Jenner exclaimed: ‘OMG Rita I Love you!!!! Please come home!!!!!!!’. Jools Holland described her performance as ‘brilliant’ while model Karlie Kloss applauded her and left a ‘crown’ emoji.

Wilson and Hanks first informed fans they’d been diagnosed with coronavirus earlier this month, with Hanks taking to social media to update their followers on the situation.

The couple revealed they had contracted COVID-19 while filming in Australia, with Hanks posting on Twitter to thank the ‘Helpers’ for the care he and Rita were receiving.

He later checked in with fans again, this time on Instagram, confirming they were in self-isolation with symptoms ‘much the same’. He wrote: ‘No fever but the blahs. Folding the laundry and doing the dishes leads to a nap on the couch.’

The actor ended his post by urging his followers to ‘flatten the curve’, writing: ‘We are all in this together.’

Hopefully, both he and Rita will make a full and speedy recovery, but in the meantime we can all do our bit by following the actor’s advice and flattening the curve: by staying inside and putting the needs of others before our own.

Our thoughts are with all those affected by coronavirus and the families of those who have lost their lives.

Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson Test Positive for Coronavirus – Variety

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have announced that they have tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus), the first celebrities to go public with a diagnosis.

Hanks and Wilson, both 63, revealed the news with a statement on Wednesday. The married couple was in Australia for production of Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Elvis Presley movie, in which Hanks is playing Presley’s iconic manager Colonel Tom Parker.

Read the statement below:

“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.

Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?

We’ll keep the world posted and updated.

Take care of yourselves!”

Hanks and Wilson were the only known individuals on the film to contract the disease, insiders said. The film is currently in pre-production stages, meaning cameras have yet to roll, and is still making preparations to shoot. Testing measures for filmmakers and crew are presently unknown.

Warner Bros., the distributor behind the film, issued a statement shortly after Hanks and Wilson went public.

“We have been made aware that a company member from our Elvis feature film, which is currently in pre-production in The Gold Coast, Australia, has tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus),” the statement reads. “We are working closely with the appropriate Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the individual. The health and safety of our company members is always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world. The individual who tested positive for COVID-19 is currently receiving treatment.”

The news broke just as President Donald Trump announced a 30-day suspension on travel from Europe to the United States due to the spread of coronavirus. Earlier on Wednesday, the World Health Organization officially declared COVID-19 a global pandemic.

There have been more than 115,000 cases of coronavirus confirmed worldwide, and the disease has killed more than 4,200 people.

Deadline Hollywood first broke the news.
