Jada Pinkett Smith reveals Will Smith split, August Alsina details

Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith confirm previous split, reveal details of August Alsina relationship

Jada Pinkett Smith is turning the tables — literally – as she brings herself to the Red Table to address questions about her relationship with R&B artist August Alsina.

On Friday’s “Red Table Talk,” Jada’s husband Will Smith joined her at the iconic table where her mother Adrienne Banfield Norris and daughter Willow Smith usually sit for the Facebook Watch series.

The “Pursuit of Happyness” actor asked Jada the question everyone wants to know: “So what happened Jada?”

Smith revealed she  started a close friendship with Alsina about four and a half years ago, and said her family was trying to help him because he was “really sick.”

“It all started with him just needing some help. Me wanting to help his health, his mental state,” Smith said about Alsina, who has been open about battling an auto-immune disease.

The Smiths revealed this friendship with Alsina began when they were going through a tough time in their marriage. They “basically broke up,” Jada said.

The couple said they separated for an indefinite amount of time so they could figure out how to make themselves happy.

“I got into an entanglement with August,” Jada said before confirming she was in a relationship with the singer during that time.

“An entanglement? A relationship,” Smith said, prodding his wife to be more specific, alluding to the Facebook Watch show’s dedication to candid discussion.

“Yes, it was a relationship. Absolutely. I was in a lot of pain. I was very broken,” she replied. “Now, in the process of that relationship, I definitely realize that you can’t find happiness outside of yourself. … I would definitely say we did everything that we could to get away from each other, only to realize that that wasn’t possible.”

‘That’ll kill me’: Jada Pinkett Smith knew she, Will weren’t cut out for ‘conventional marriage’

The “Girls Trip” actress shared that her relationship with Alsina allowed her to grow and heal as she learned things about herself during their time together, including acknowledging her desire to be “drawn to people who need help.”

“Through that particular journey I learned so much about myself and was able to really confront a lot of emotional immaturity, emotional insecurity and I was really able to do some really deep healing,” Jada said. “And as I came through and started to realize certain things about you and I, he decided to break all communication with me which was totally understandable.”

Jada noted she hasn’t talked to Alsina in recent years, so she felt it was “weird” that he brought up their relationship now.

USA TODAY has reached out Alsina’s reps.

During a June interview for Complex with Angela Yee, Alsina addressed relationship rumors with Jada.

“What I’m not okay with is my character being in question,” Alsina said. “I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to their transformation from their marriage to life partnership that they’ve spoken on several times. … He gave me his blessing and I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really, deeply loved and have a ton of love for her (Jada). I devoted myself to it, I gave my full self to it.”

In 2019, August Alsina released “Nunya,” a song many people thought was about his relationship with Smith. At the time, Alsina denied the song was about Smith’s wife and said they were good friends.

The celebrity couple agreed that though they’ve had issues in their marriage, there are no secrets between them.

“We ride together, we die together, bad marriage for life,” Will and Jada joked, alluding to the classic “Bad Boys” movie line.

At less than 13 minutes long, Friday’s conversation was significantly shorter than Smith’s usual “Red Table Talk” episodes, which usually clock in around 40 minutes.

Jada Pinkett Smith to Address August Alsina Affair Claims on ‘Red Table Talk’ | Rap-Up

Jada Pinkett Smith is bringing herself to the “Red Table.”

Following reports that she had an affair with August Alsina, the actress may be planning to address the headlines on an upcoming episode of her popular Facebook Watch series “Red Table Talk.”

“There’s some healing that needs to happen…so I’m bringing myself to The Red Table,” Jada tweeted on Thursday.

Earlier in the week, August claimed that he had a years-long affair with the 48-year-old Smith and that her husband Will gave the relationship his “blessing.”

“I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership … he gave me his blessing,” said August, who said he was “really, really deeply love” with Pinkett.

The couple has been rumored to have an open marriage. However, a rep for Jada called August’s claims “absolutely not true,” while Will’s rep also said the allegations are “wrong.”

It unclear if August or Will will take part in the “Red Table Talk” episode or when it will air. Jada has welcomed many high-profile guests on her talk show in the wake of controversy including Snoop Dogg, T.I., and Jordyn Woods.

August Alsina Opens Up About Dating Jada Pinkett Smith For Years: ‘Will Smith Gave Me His Blessing’ (Video)

For the first time ever, August Alsina has opened up in detail about his relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith.

There have been years of rumors, speculation, and suspicions about their alleged relationship and August usually takes the brunt of the criticism about it.

People have accused him of being obsessed with Jada Pinkett Smith and/or trying to break up her happy home and he wants to finally set the record straight.

During a very candid interview with Angela Yee, the singer confirmed he was in a very serious relationship with Jada for years and they had Will Smith‘s blessing.

I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation.

Due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership that they have spoken on several times and it not involving romanticism, he gave me his blessing.

And I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life. And I truly and really, really deeply loved and I have a ton of love for her. I devoted myself to it. I gave my full self to it.

So much so to the point that I can die right now and be okay with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody and I really loved a person. I experienced that. I know what that feels like and some people never get that in this lifetime.

I know that I am completely blessed.

August Alsina said when the drama came in…he had to untwine and exit the relationship.

Fighting back emotions, August said leaving the relationship almost killed him.

It…broke…me…down,” he confessed.

Watch The Video (16:35 mark):

August explained how Will and Jada’s “life partnership” made his relationship with Jada okay.

— Bambi ?? (@BambeeFall)

The double standard is once again showing with this Jada Smith & August Alsina situation. If Jada was the older man & August the younger woman being groomed, the TL would be CANCELING Jada. She basically took advantage of this kid…August sounds broken!pic.twitter.com/A53lMosmvq

August Alsina saying he’d be okay if he died because he was able to experience that love with Jada is wild. He’s saying that while looking extremely hurt about the situation. Poor thing. ☹️

— ??L E A?? (@_MissLeandra)

Imagine Jada and August Alsina come home from date night and walk past Will Smith straight to the bed room. Lmaoooooooo

— Asshole Of The Year (@Bdell_1014)

I feel for August Alsina and here’s why. Jada has a strong foundation at home. He does not. And she knew that. Will knew that. Jada loves a project and August was hers. She wanted to help him but also had a sexual relationship with him. Very murky waters she stepped into.

Jada Pinkett Smith confronts Snoop Dogg about his attack on Gayle King | Daily Mail Online

Jada Pinkett Smith confronted Snoop Dogg over how he publicly berated Gayle King after she dredged up Kobe Bryant‘s rape allegations in the wake of the basketball star’s death.

Snoop, a close fan of Bryant’s, shocked fans when he lashed out at CBS This Morning host Gayle King after a segment of an interview about the late basketball star and his rape trial was taken out of context earlier this month.

In a since-deleted video, Snoop called King  a ‘funky, dog-haired b****’ and demanded she ‘back off before we come get you’.

He later apologized to King, and she accepted.

But he was forced to face his words again when Smith brought up the ordeal in an upcoming episode of Red Table Talk, telling the rapper how disappointed she was in his treatment of King.

Heated response: Snoop Dogg recently clapped back at Gayle King after her statement about Kobe Bryant’s rape trial was taken out of context

In a clip from the interview, which airs February 26, Smith says: ‘When you first came out and you said what you said, you know in regards to Gayle, my heart dropped.

‘I felt like not only were you talking to Gayle, but you were talking to me. I was like, “Oh no, Snoop has now taken his power flow away from me, away from Willow, away from my mother.” Right?’

She continued: ‘I was like…if this is what’s happening..I was like, not Snoop! That’s one of the reasons I felt like I really wanted to have the conversation with you in the spirit of healing.’

King recently faced backlash when a clip from her CBS This Morning interview with WNBA star Lisa Leslie was posted online.

In discussion: After apologizing, he had an important discussion about his reaction with Jada Pinkett Smith for an upcoming episode of Red Table Talk

Heart dropped: In a clip from the interview, which airs February 26, Smith says: ‘When you first came out and you said what you said, you know in regards to Gayle, my heart dropped’

Spirit of healing: She added: ‘I was like, not Snoop! That’s one of the reasons I felt like I really wanted to have the conversation with you in the spirit of healing’

In the video, she brought up the 2003 sexual assault case against Bryant, which was ultimately settled out of court when Bryant released a public apology.

She’s since said she felt ‘mortified’ by the clip, which was edited by CBS without the full context: ‘I know that if I had only seen the clip that you saw, I’d be extremely angry with me too.’

Snoop responded in a now-deleted video: ‘Why y’all attacking us? We your people. You ain’t coming after f***ing Harvey Weinstein, asking them dumba** questions. I get sick of y’all.’

Facing backlash: King recently faced backlash when a clip from her CBS This Morning interview with WNBA star Lisa Leslie was posted online

Out of context: She’s since said she felt ‘mortified’ by the clip of her bringing up Bryant’s 2003 sexual assault case, which was taken out of context

Sincere apology: Snoop has since released an apology video for the way he reacted

But the I Wanna Thank Me artist has since released an apology video for the way he reacted.

He said: ‘I should have handled it way different than that. I was raised way better than that. So, I would like to apologize to you publicly.’

Kobe Bryant and 13-year-old daughter Gianna were among nine who died last month in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California.
