Chris Hemsworth and Russell Crowe ‘in talks to co-produce Gladiator 2’

It’s been more than two decades since Hollywood blockbuster Gladiator became a critical and box office sensation, earning more than $400 million worldwide and securing 11 Oscar nominations.

Now there are rumours Chris Hemsworth and Russell Crowe are in talks to co-produce an action-packed sequel: Gladiator 2.

An industry insider told New Idea on Monday that Chris and Russell are carefully considering the concept, and have spent hours musing over script ideas.

Gladiator 2 was first speculated in 2018, with original reports claiming the sequel would occur 20-30 years on from the death of Roman leader Maximus (Crowe).

‘Russell thinks he could be the only man to credibly play his son in a Gladiator sequel,’ explains the source.

The mystery insider also claimed that the actors have become closer ever since Russell joined Thor: Love and Thunder’s filming in Sydney.

Meanwhile, it was announced in March that Chris would be helping produce, alongside Kathy Morgan, Christopher Mapp, Robert Slaviero, and Peter D. Graves, his wife Elsa Pataky’s new film.

Netflix’s exciting new action drama film Interceptor will see the Spanish actress, 44, star as the lead character – a woman set to save the world from 16 nuclear missiles.

The exciting new movie will be filmed in Sydney, with production set to commence this month.

Chris Hemsworth has starred in a slew of blockbuster films throughout his esteemed career.

And his latest film Extraction is ‘well on its way to becoming the biggest film premiere on Netflix‘.

The Australian actor, 36, shared a photo of his character – Tyler Rake – from the action flick.

He thanked his fans who watched the movie and encouraged others to watch it.

It follows his character Tyler Rake, a former SASR operator-turned-mercenary.

He is hired by India’s biggest drug lord to rescue his son who is being held at ransom in Dhaka by Bangladesh’s biggest drug lord.

The film is based on the graphic novel by Ciudad by Ande Parks, Fernando Leon Gonzalez, and Eric Skillman, as well as Marvel film producers Joe and Anthony Russo, who also produced the film.

The release of Chris’ latest film comes after radio host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson to the Hollywood actor that the production of his new Marvel film – Thor: Love and Thunder – had interrupted her schedule.

Jackie said: ‘You see, I’m doing a TV show called The Masked Singer and I’ve been kicked out of there and I’ve got to go to Melbourne now to film!’

Netflix dropped a trailer for its upcoming movie Extraction, starring Chris Hemsworth, and its action-packed.

The famed actor plays a black market mercenary by the name of Tyler, who is trying to bring a drug lord’s son home after he is kidnapped by the kingpin’s rival. Rudhraksh Jaiswal is the young actor who plays the son who needs rescuing and it seems he and Chris got close while filming the movie.

Chris hit Instagram to share the trailer, saying in his caption “I’m very proud of all the hard work that has been poured into this project. This has been a difficult few months for all of us, and we hope this will provide a bit of entertainment while we are all staying home.” He went on to thank his team and costars, at which point Rudhraksh slid into the comment section.

“It was an Awesome experience, felt on seventh Heaven. Your charismatic down-to-earth attitude taught me the value of life of being a good human being first! Truly amazing! Thanks love you,” he wrote.

Extraction is due April 24th on Netflix; tune in.
