Weird and wonderful celebrity pregnancy announcements after Katy Perry’s music video – Irish Mirror Online

Thank you for subscribingSee ourprivacy notice

Katy Perry left fans in shock when she announced she’s pregnant by cradling her bump in her new music video.

The singer, 35, told the world she’s expecting her first baby with fiancé Orlando Bloom, 43, through her video for new song Never Worn White.

Katy admitted “it’s the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep” after emerging in a stunning gown with a growing baby bump underneath.

But she’s hardly the first celebrity to announce their baby news in epic fashion.

Here’s a rundown of the most weird and wonderful celebrity pregnancy announcements ever…

Beyonce and Jay-Z

Back in 2011, Beyonce announced she was expecting her first baby in epic fashion at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Beyonce Knowles

The former Destiny’s Child star came out on stage dressed in black trousers, a white shirt and a purple sequined blazer.

And the crowd went absolutely wild when she dropped her mic to the floor, unbuttoned her jacket and started rubbing her blossoming bump.

The cameras cut to Jay-Z in the crowd, showing the expectant father smiling and applauding his wife, as pal Kanye West ran in to congratulate him.

Their daughter Blue Ivy was born on January 7, 2012.

Beyonce and Jay-Z again

Queen Bey did it again in 2017 when she announced she was expecting twins!

Beyonce became an Earth goddess as she posed up amongst a stunning floral arrangement.

The singer wore blue knickers and a burgundy bra with a veil draped over her head.

Kneeling down, she cradled her growing baby bump.

She captioned the shot: “We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. – The Carters”

Rumi and Sir were both on June 13, 2017.

Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott

Considering how famous Kylie Jenner is, it’s actually rather impressive how well she hid her pregnancy.

Of course the rumours were swirling and she was caught on camera once during her pregnancy, but in the grand scheme of things, she managed to keep it on the low-down.

Nothing was confirmed until February 4, 2018 when Kylie dropped an 11-minute video entitled To Our Daughter on YouTube.

The mini documentary tracked Kylie’s pregnancy and the birth of her daughter Stormi, who she shares with now-ex Travis Scott, on February 1, 2018.

Cheryl and Liam Payne

Cheryl also remained very tight-lipped about her pregnancy.

Despite being photographed a number of times with a bump, while attending events with then-boyfriend Liam Payne, she refused to confirm that she was having a baby.

Cheryl finally came clean on March 25, 2017, when she shared a picture of former One Direction star Liam cradling their newborn.

She wrote on Instagram : “On Wednesday 22nd March Liam and I became parents to an incredibly beautiful, healthy baby boy, weighing 7lb 9 and looking like a dream. Although he still doesn’t have a name he is already stealing hearts. We are all madly in love and overwhelmingly happy with our little arrival. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers around the world. A day that now has a different meaning to me forever”.

They named their son Bear.

Former Girls Aloud star Cheryl has maintained a level of secrecy around her child, and never shares pictures where you can see his face.

Danielle Lloyd

Poor Danielle Lloyd ‘did a Beyonce’ when she announced she was expecting – and she was trolled for it.

The former Miss England took part in a Beyonce-inspired shoot for OK! magazine, recreating the singer’s Earth Goddess snap, to announce she was pregnant with her first child with now-husband Michael O’Neill.

Danielle, who also has three sons with ex Jamie O’Hara, posed up amongst flowers in blue knickers, a burgundy bra and veil to share the news.

OK! Magazine cover with Danielle Lloyd

But the former WAG was targeted by sick online trolls who told her she shouldn’t have copied Beyonce’s announcement.

Danielle had shared her picture on Instagram, writing: “So it’s official Am expecting a baby. I loved this Beyoncé inspired shoot with @ok_mag #pregnant #baby#excited”

A representative for Danielle told Mirror Online at the time: “Danielle enjoyed taking part in the shoot for OK Magazine and simulating images that one of her idols Beyonce put out a few weeks ago to announce her pregnancy. The comments that have followed have been unjustified and unnecessary and have caused massive upset to Danielle and her family.”

Danielle and Michael welcomed their son in September 2017.

Jessica Simpson

Back in 2011, Jessica Simpson announced she was pregnant with her first child with a clever play on words.

For Halloween , the singer dressed up as a mummy in a bandage-inspired dress.

Sharing it online, she wrote: “It’s true, I’m going to be a mummy!”.

On May 1, 2012, she welcomed daughter Maxwell with then-fiancé Eric Johnson.

Pink shocked everyone in November 2016 when she revealed she was heavily pregnant.

The singer posed up for a stunning picture, cradling her bump in a flowing white gown.

Pink added a touch of her cool style with a black top hat.

Daughter Willow, who she welcomed with husband Carey Hart in June 2011, cuddles into her.

She captioned the picture: “Surprise!”

Pink gave birth to son Jameson in December 2016.

Serena Williams

Serena accidentally revealed she was 20 weeks pregnant in April 2017 when she shared a picture of herself in a yellow swimsuit.

It was her first child with fiancé Alexis Ohanian.

Her bump was there for all the world to see, alongside the caption “20 weeks”.

She later admitted it was an accident, and that the picture was supposed to be for her own personal records.

She said: “I have this thing where I’ve been checking my status and taking pictures every week to see how far along I’m getting. I was just saving them [for myself]. I’ve been so good about it, but this was the one time it slipped.”

She gave birth to a daughter in September 2017.

Tom and Giovanna Fletcher

In September 2015, McFly star Tom Fletcher and his wife Giovanna announced that they were expecting their second child with an epic YouTube video.

Tom was seen heading up to the loft to collect a games console in the clip entitled Player 2.

After setting it up with son Buzz and his wife, the TV showed pictures of them all as players, alongside a box with a question mark in the centre.

They selected Buzz as player one before selecting the question mark as player two.

The couple then looked down to Giovanna’s stomach, where she had balanced her baby scan.

The words “Player Two loading” flashed up on the screen.

Buzz was born on March 13, 2014, and little brother Buddy, the star of this video, came along on February 16, 2016.

The couple also share son Max, who was born on August 24, 2018.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend

In November 2017, Chrissy Teigen let daughter Luna announce that she was expecting a sibling.

Chrissy shared a video of herself pointing to her tummy and asking Luna “What’s in there?”

“Baby,” Luna answered.

“it’s john’s!” Chrissy captioned the clip, referring to her husband John Legend.

They welcome son Miles on May 16, 2018.

Jessica Alba and Cash Warren

Actress Jessica Alba announced she was expecting her third child with husband Cash Warren in an adorable post way back in July 2017.

In a GIF she posted to Instagram, daughter Honor, 11, held onto a giant number one balloon and daughter Haven, eight, clutched one in the shape of a number two.

Jessica stood beside them, cradling her bump and holding up a number three.

Son Haven was born in December 2017.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel

In February 2015, Justin Timberlake confirmed he was expecting his first child with wife Jessica Biel with a sweet photograph.

Jessica lifted up her jumper to reveal her bump while Justin kneeled down in front of her to plant a kiss on her belly.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel confirm pregnancy

Next to the snap, he wrote: “Thank you EVERYONE for the Bday wishes! This year, I’m getting the GREATEST GIFT EVER. CAN’T WAIT.

He added: “#BoyOrGirl #YouNeverKnow #WeDontEvenKnow#WeAreTakingBets.”

Their son Silas was born on April 11, 2015.

Kevin and Danielle Jonas

Jonas Brother stars Kevin and his wife Danielle added a touch of humour to their pregnancy announcement in 2016.

Kevin took to Instagram to share a hilarious snap of himself and Danielle sitting up in bed.

While she was tucking into tasty snacks like cereal, Doritos and biscuits, he had a shocked look on his face while reading book What To Expect When You’re Expecting Again.

He captioned it: “Prepping for baby number two! #babyjonas2.”

The couple share daughters Alena and Valentina.

Jamie Lynn Spears

In December 2017, Britney’s little sister Jamie Lynn Spears revealed she was expecting her second child.

She showed off her growing bump in a gorgeous picture of herself, husband Jamie Watson and daughter Maddie, holding hands as they stood together in the woods.

She captioned it: “Looks like we are starting off 2018 with another big milestone…sooo happy to announce that Maddie is FINALLY going to be a big sister

“2017 was filled with some of the biggest challenges of my life, as well as some of the biggest blessings, so I made a choice to lay low this year to focus on truly becoming my best self as a person and as an artist.

“During that time, I continued working on my music and telling my story, which has created some of my most honest work and I CANT wait to share that with you all very soon. 2018 is going to be filled with many milestones both personally and professionally. I appreciate each of you for your patience and support through it all. 2018 has a lot coming, so GET READY…….. #12DaysofJLS”

She gave birth to daughter Ivey on April 11, 2018.

Hallmark reverses decision to pull same-sex ‘wedding’ ads after LGBT celebrity backlash

PETITION: Tell Hallmark No LGBT Christmas movies! Sign the petition here.

December 16, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) — The Hallmark Channel has reversed its decision to stop airing four commercials featuring same-sex “weddings” and will now allow the controversial adverts to be aired.

Hallmark initially decided to stop airing four commercials for the wedding planning website Zola.com after a backlash from viewers. The ad that sparked the backlash ended with two women, one in a white suit and the other in a white dress, kissing. The other ads that were pulled also featured same-sex kisses.

But on Sunday, Hallmark announced that pulling the ads was the “wrong decision” after the channel came in for criticism from several celebrities.

Celebrities William Shatner and Ellen DeGeneres took to Twitter in order to criticize the “family friendly” channel.

Shatner initially wrote, “Shame on @hallmarkchannel! Put the commercials back! @1milmoms has 4K followers. I have 2.5 million and my friends have more. Who are you going to listen to? They are NOT a majority here. Both me and my followers watch your shows, do they?  #loveislove Do the right thing.”

— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner)

Ellen DeGeneres, who has almost 80 million followers on Twitter, wrote, “Isn’t it almost 2020? @hallmarkchannel, @billabbottHC… what are you thinking? Please explain. We’re all ears.”

Isn’t it almost 2020? @hallmarkchannel, @billabbottHC… what are you thinking? Please explain. We’re all ears.

— Ellen DeGeneres (@TheEllenShow)

According to a report at ABC News, the decision was also mocked on Saturday Night Live, and the Netflix U.S. Twitter account posted an image of two lesbian couples along with the caption “Titles Featuring Lesbians Joyfully Existing And Also It’s Christmas Can We Just Let People Love Who [sic] They Love.”

On Sunday evening, Hallmark Cards president and CEO Mike Perry announced that the commercials would be allowed to air once more. “The Crown Media team has been agonizing over this decision as we’ve seen the hurt it has unintentionally caused,” he said. “Said simply, they believe this was the wrong decision[.] … We are truly sorry for the hurt and disappointment this has caused.”

One Million Moms (1MM), a conservative group whose goal is to “stop the exploitation of our children, especially by the entertainment media,” last week asked Hallmark to pull the ad after collecting comments from viewers about how the commercial “ruined” their experience watching the “family friendly” channel. 1MM subsequently announced that it had spoken with Bill Abbott, the CEO of Hallmark’s parent company, Crown Media Family Networks, “who confirmed [the] Hallmark Channel has pulled the Zola.com commercial, featuring a same-sex couple, from their network. He reported the advertisement aired in error, but he was informed about it after hearing from concerned 1MM supporters.”

“The call to our office gave us the opportunity to also confirm the Hallmark Channel will continue to be a safe and family friendly network. Praise the Lord!” 1MM announced.

The complaint led to the channel making public statements as to why it was not appropriate for them to air the ads. “The debate surrounding these commercials on all sides was distracting from the purpose of our network, which is to provide entertainment value,” Crown Family Media Network said in a Friday evening statement, as reported by the New York Times. That outlet reported that similar ads of heterosexual couples were deemed appropriate for the channel.

“We are not allowed to accept creatives that are deemed controversial,” a Hallmark account representative told Zola via email.

But that position was quickly abandoned. Curiously, Hallmark Cards head Mike Perry used similar wording in his statement apologizing for the ads being pulled as was used by the organization when the ads were initially canceled.

“Our mission is rooted in helping all people connect, celebrate traditions, and be inspired to capture meaningful moments in their lives. Anything that distracts from this purpose is not who we are,” he said in a statement reported by CNBC.

Molly Biwer, senior vice president for public affairs at Hallmark, said in an interview on Sunday night that the most recent decision to allow the ads to be aired “truly reflects who we are as a company. We celebrate all families.”

In November, Bill Abbott suggested that the channel may begin to feature homosexual story lines.

“We’re open to really any type of movie of any type of relationship,” he told The Hollywood Reporter’s podcast.

LifeSite is calling on Hallmark to stand by its original decision to pull the ads and deliver genuinely family-friendly entertainment to its viewers this Christmas.
