INSP Mourns the Loss of Linda Cristal, Star of The High Chaparral – INSP TV | TV Shows and Movies

Were it not for a trip to Mexico with her older brother, Linda Cristal, beloved by INSP fans for her role as the strong and fiery, Victoria Montoya Cannon on The High Chaparral, might have become a nun.

On that fateful vacation, producer Miguelito Alemán spotted the young beauty, then known as Marta Victoria Moya, and offered her a small role in his latest film. Having studied voice and piano at conservatory, she was no stranger to the performing arts, and that part led to eight films with actor and producer Raúl de Anda, in which she changed her name to Linda Cristal.

In a 1960 article appearing in Look magazine, Cristal said of her early movie career,

“I never became a big star, but then I wouldn’t have been a big nun either.”

After making more than a dozen films in Mexico, she hit the Hollywood scene to make her first movies in English. She appeared in several films, took guest roles on television then auditioned for what would be a regular on a new series called, The High Chaparral. She knew the character of Victoria Montoya was independent, strong, passionate and smart, but the scene they asked her to read was sentimental, sweet and tender. So, she tossed the script, and improvised, showing a wide range of emotions and grit—instantly becoming the fiery Victoria Montoya Cannon, wife of Big John Cannon, who together would overcome hardship and danger to build a cattle empire. Linda Cristal got the part. In 1970, she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her role on the show.

INSP fans also recognize Linda Cristal as Mexican aristocrat, Elena de la Madriaga, opposite James Stewart in Two Rode Together, and with John Wayne, as Flaca in The Alamo.

On June 27, 2020, Linda Cristal passed away at age 89, peacefully in her sleep, in her Beverly Hills home. She is survived by her sons Jordan and Gregory, and two grandchildren.

Joe Bob Briggs Teases Official Release of “MonsterVision” TV Series

Before there was Shudder’s “The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs” there was TNT’s “MonsterVision,” a beloved Saturday night staple for horror fans that Joe Bob began hosting in 1996. Much like “The Last Drive-In,” Briggs played the role of horror host for the show, introducing different horror movies each week and popping up to talk shop throughout.

Joe Bob Briggs hosted the show until it was removed from TNT’s lineup in September 2000; the final episode aired on July 8th, 2000, and included Children of the Corn II.

To date, “MonsterVision” hasn’t yet received an official release of any kind – Vinegar Syndrome’s Blu-ray release of Ice Cream Man, however, does include the entire “MonsterVision” episode that featured the 1995 film – but Joe Bob took to Twitter today to tease that you might want to hold off on buying any unofficial, bootleg releases of the series.

Anyone offering MonsterVision “box sets,” DVDs, etc., is a bootlegger, and your $50 to $80 is gonna get you an incredibly crappy image, even worse than what you can already find on YouTube,” Joe Bob tweeted. “Just wait a few months and we’ll have something official.”

Stay tuned for more as we learn it!

Just a heads up. Anyone offering MonsterVision “box sets,” DVDs, etc., is a bootlegger, and your $50 to $80 is gonna get you an incredibly crappy image, even worse than what you can already find on YouTube. Just wait a few months and we’ll have something official.

‘Justice League’ Actor Ray Fisher: Joss Whedon Was ‘Abusive’ On Set – Variety

Actor Ray Fisher accused director Joss Whedon of “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable” behavior on the set of the 2017 film “Justice League,” in a tweet that quickly went viral on Wednesday.

Fisher also claimed in his tweet on Wednesday that former Warner Bros. co-president of production Jon Berg, and former DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns, both “enabled” Whedon’s alleged behavior on “Justice League.” Berg and Johns also served as producers on “Justice League,” and the film’s poor performance was a factor in both executives exiting their positions leading the DC Films unit at the studio.

Whedon had no comment. A representative for Warner Bros. did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Joss Wheadon’s on-set treatment of the cast and crew of Justice League was gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.

He was enabled, in many ways, by Geoff Johns and Jon Berg.

— Ray Fisher (@ray8fisher) July 1, 2020

Whedon — the director of Marvel Studios’ blockbuster superhero movies “The Avengers” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron” — took over directing duties for extensive additional photography on the DC comics adaptation from Zack Snyder, after Snyder left the project due to a death in his family. Fisher played the cybernetic superhero Cyborg in the film, alongside Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Ben Affleck’s Batman, Henry Cavill’s Superman, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, and Ezra Miller’s the Flash.

The resulting film received mixed-to-negative reviews and grossed a disappointing $657.9 million worldwide; more importantly, the tonal mix of Snyder and Whedon’s sensibilities led many fans to see the film as an unacceptable compromise of Snyder’s true vision. That led to a years-long grassroots fan campaign to “release the Snyder cut” of “Justice League,” which was ultimately successful: Snyder announced in May that his cut of the film will debut on HBO Max in 2021.

Fisher hinted at friction with Whedon earlier this week, when he tweeted a clip from the “Justice League” panel at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con in which he praised the filmmaker as “a great guy” and that Snyder “picked a good person to come in and clean-up — and finish up for him.”

“I’d like to take a moment to forcefully retract every bit of this statement,” Fisher tweeted.

I’d like to take a moment to forcefully retract every bit of this statement:
