Taylor Selfridge Fired from ‘Teen Mom,’ Special Gets Pulled Over Racist Tweets

The ‘Teen Mom OG’ special featuring Cory Wharton and Taylor Selfridge did not air as scheduled on June 9th due to some 8 year old tweets posted by Taylor. The special was going to show the couple welcoming their baby girl into the world during a global pandemic. The much anticipated episode was filmed by the couple themselves.

Taylor’s old tweets were addressed on ‘Teen Mom OG’ with a sit down conversation with Cheyenne Floyd who was concerned that Taylor may have some racist points of view. In the episode Taylor apologized for her tweets (one of which stated “I hate when white girls talk like they’re black.”) she explained that she was young and didn’t realize the impact of her statements. Cheyenne seemed satisfied with the conversation and they all went on to have a great co-parenting relationship.

Cheyenne Floyd has also shared tweets that stated she shouldn’t watch the movie “The Help” because she “already has a problem with white people.” She went on to tweet that the movie made her want to kill white people. These were never mentioned on the show. It seems safe to say that both Taylor and Cheyenne have tweeted in bad taste when they were younger. So it comes off extremely hypocritical for MTV to cut the special featuring Taylor. Especially since all parties involved have apologized and moved on. Cheyenne, Cory and Taylor have one of the healthiest co-parenting relationships featured on the show.

MTV pulled Teen Mom OG At Home: Cory & Taylor’s Baby Special from its Tuesday schedule and is ending our relationship with Taylor Selfridge in light of her past racist statements on social media,” an MTV spokesperson told People Magazine. “MTV strongly condemns systemic racism and stands with those raising their voices against injustice.”

Taylor shared on Instagram that she will no longer be filming for ‘Teen Mom.’

As you guys know already our special didn’t air tonight. I made the decision last week to not film the next season of Teen Mom OG with Cory for the benefit of myself and my daughter,” she wrote. “I don’t believe the reality tv lifestyle benefits me any further at this point in my life. With current events being what they are and reality tv being selective in who they apply rules to or what is considered acceptable behavior, I do not have any further respect.

Once again, I apologize for anyone I have hurt or offended in the past. I have addressed my mistakes many times on the network and I would like to move on and continue to be the best version of myself. My past does not define who I am today and I hope you guys can see the change. Please respect my decision to provide a normal, healthy life for my family.”

Iggy Azalea Announces She Gave Birth to a Son – XXL

The Australian-bred, Atlanta-based rapper made the announcement on her Instagram story on Wednesday afternoon (June 10) following numerous unconfirmed reports that she and Playboi Carti were expecting a child together.

“I have a son,” the Australian native wrote in the post. “I kept waiting for the right time to say something but it feels like the more time passes the more I realize I’m always going to feel anxious to share news that giant with the world. I want to keep his life private but wanted to make it clear his is not a secret and I love him beyond words.”

TMZ reported last month that Iggy and Carti welcomed a baby boy together while sharing details of a new family-friendly 2020 Rolls-Royce Cullinan he reportedly purchased. The vehicle was rushed to the “@ Meh” rapper in early May after chatter began about the couple becoming new parents.

Despite the two dating, just before Christmas Day last year, while vacationing in Bali, Iggy wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post that she was single. At the time, pregnancy rumors were still coming full force, but she made efforts to shut them down by sharing images of herself in a bikini.

Although Carti was not mentioned in Iggy’s IG post announcing her child, fans are assuming he is the father of her son. Carti and The New Classic rapper went public as a couple in September of 2018.

XXL has reached out to a rep for Iggy Azalea and a rep for Playboi Carti for a comment.

Apple TV+ series ‘Dickinson’ wins a Peabody Award for entertainment – 9to5Mac

Apple TV+ is continuing its awards run with a pickup of its first Peabody Award, a little over six months since the streaming service launched. The anachronistic comedy ‘Dickinson’ was one of ten winners in the Peabody 30’s entertainment category.

The Peabody Awards are a prestigious industry accreditation. They particularly focus on television that has social and cultural impact, choosing ‘stories that matter’. The institution said that they were more than 1300 candidates this year, with Dickinson being one of 30 winners.

With its premium programming approach, Apple TV+ has aimed squarely for critical appraisal, with Apple aggressively courting Hollywood voters in the run up to awards season.

So far, the strategy seems to have succeeded. Apple TV+ was the first streaming service to be nominated for a Golden Globe within its first year, and The Morning Show actors Billy Crudup and Jennifer Aniston snagged wins at the Critics Awards and Screen Actors Guild awards. It can now add a Peabody to its portfolio. Its kids content also received a flurry of Daytime Emmys.

Nominations for the next big awards event, the primetime Emmys, will be announced in a few weeks. Many industry pundits predict that The Morning Show will make the cut.
