John Fogerty and Family Cover Creedence Clearwater Revival’s ‘Lodi’ – Rolling Stone

John Fogerty and his family are making the most of their time in self-quarantine, taking to their home studio to record a new version of the Fogerty-penned Creedence Clearwater Revival classic “Lodi.”

The clip finds Fogerty playing lead guitar while his son Shane plays bass, and his other son, Tyler, and daughter Kelsy, provide acoustic guitar accompaniment. The quartet’s rendition of the tune has an easy and familial feel to it, while the narrative of “Lodi” — about a struggling musician who can’t manage to hit it big — carries an extra poignancy at a time when so many musicians’ lives and careers have been waylaid because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“I think it is important that we don’t take things for granted anymore,” Fogerty told Rolling Stone. “My daughter Kelsy, who is a senior in High School and is missing so much; her prom, graduation, said that to us yesterday. Right on Kelsy! If anything good is coming out of this, it’s that I get to spend time with my family making music, spreading love through music.”

Fogerty’s son Shane — who plays guitar in Fogerty’s regular band and, with his brother Tyler, fronts the group Hearty Har — added, “Nothing better than jamming with my dad.”

The Fogerty family’s rendition of “Lodi” follows a previously released version of another CCR favorite, “Down on the Corner.” The Fogerty’s are calling their at-home sessions “Cosmo’s Factory/Fogerty’s Factory,” a nod to CCR’s 1970 album, Cosmo’s Factory, and they’ve even recreated the LP’s cover for the series.

50 years later… “FOGERTY’S FACTORY!” During this pandemic we re-created the iconic album cover of Cosmo’s Factory by collecting items around the house, including the Kustom Amp that was played at Woodstock – complete with Bob Fogerty shooting this cover! #fogertysfactory pic.twitter.com/P3B2GWrf87

— John Fogerty (@John_Fogerty) April 14, 2020

“Bringing a little light from our home to yours. We are having a little family fun together during the pandemic. It’s such a great feeling to be making and playin’ music surrounded by love,” Fogerty said of the video series. “We all need to celebrate the life we have and remember how precious it is. I love music, I am listening every day. Makes everything feel better for me. Put the records on, pull out the old guitar, turn the radio up.. and dance to the music.”

Tom Hanks, Colton Underwood, More Stars Who Tested Positive for Coronavirus

The novel coronavirus has made its rounds worldwide after first emerging in the Wuhan, Hubei, province in China back in 2019 — and today’s biggest stars are not immune.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were among the first high-profile names to test positive for COVID-19. On March 11, the Academy Award winner shared the symptoms the couple experienced during their time in Australia, where Hanks was working on pre-production for Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic.

“We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches,” the Forrest Gump actor said of he and Wilson. “Rita had some chills that came and went.”

On March 16, Us Weekly confirmed that Hanks and Wilson were released from the hospital. The pair, who have been married for 30 years, rented a home in Australia before flying back to the U.S.

Nearly a week after Hanks and Wilson’s diagnosis was confirmed, Idris Elba announced that he contracted the virus as well. He revealed via Twitter on Monday that he decided to get tested after learning that an individual he was in contact with tested positive on March 13.

The day after speaking out, the English actor shared that Hanks’ confession inspired him to speak about his own condition. “I’m really proud of Tom Hanks, who is also someone in the public eye who came out and said they have it and has been public about it,” the Cats actor said in a Twitter livestream video. “I was really motivated by Tom’s move there.”

As of April 4, there are more than 1.1 million confirmed cases worldwide and more than 64,000 individuals have died from COVID-19. Symptoms for the illness include fever, coughing and difficulties breathing.

All 50 states across the U.S. have confirmed cases of coronavirus, with more than 8,400 deaths.

Rita’s posse is also said to have been ‘shouted at by a farmer’ after they entered private land.

The star arrived at the farmhouse on March 21 before Prime Minister Boris Johnson put the UK on lockdown to tackle the coronavirus crisis, reports The Sun.

The publication also claims that a local wrote on an online residents’ group: ‘Surely she should respect the rules and have stayed in f****** London?’

While a different local is said to have accused Rita’s security staff of reducing her son, seven, ‘to tears’ on a public footpath nearby the farmhouse with a drone used to ‘follow’ them as they ‘walked away’.

Yet despite the alleged furore surrounding her stay, a ‘friend’ told the publication: ‘She is deadly serious about coronavirus lockdown and doing her bit by self- isolating and not travelling home.’

They also denied any ‘raucous parties’ or upsetting behaviour to locals.

MailOnline has contacted Rita’s representative for comment.

Rita has been sharing several snaps from her farmhouse stay to Instagram during lockdown using the hashtag #stayhome.

The star recently revealed on This Morning that her mum inspired her to become a NHS volunteer during the pandemic.

Rita is just one of 750,000 plus UK residents who answered the government’s call to sign up as an NHS volunteer, to complete tasks such as the delivery of essential medicine or providing transport for those in need of medical treatment.

19 Unintentionally Funny Teen Drama Moments

Brooke literally yelled “PEYTON! EIGHTH GRADE CHEER CAMP!” and then as they went to check if Derek was dead, they talked about how much Brooke hated that camp.

Please watch the scene, I beg of you. I get that they were going for like an old movie feel, but…it did not work.

Maybe this moment was supposed to be funny, but I don’t think the writers knew how instantly iconic it would be.

I realize it was later revealed Sebastian put rocks or something in it, but…it was just such a ridiculous storyline to have Blaine hurt by a slushie.

First Look At Denis Villeneuve’s Film Adaption Of Legendary Sci-Fi Classic Dune – UNILAD

First Look At Denis Villeneuve’s Film Adaption Of Legendary Sci-Fi Classic Dune

First Look At New Film Adaption Of Legendary Sci-Fi Classic DuneFirst Look At New Film Adaption Of Legendary Sci-Fi Classic DuneVanity Fair/Instagram

Years before we stepped into a galaxy far, far away – and long before we became embroiled with the regal drama of Westeros – there was Dune.

One of the most influential sci-fi texts of the 20th century, Frank Herbert’s critically acclaimed Dune was published in 1965, and would go on to win the prestigious Hugo Award the following year.

Decades on, and we can still feel its impact within the worlds we’ve come to love and find escape in, from Game of Thrones to Star Wars to Alien.

Politically and philosophically complex, and with world-building you can almost feel develop beneath your feet, Dune set the gold standard for intelligent, imaginative fantasy storytelling.

Now a brand new film version is on the way, and it looks set to be an absolute belter. Starring Timothée Chalamet as protagonist Paul Atreides, the stellar cast also includes the likes of Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista and Javier Bardem.

Vanity Fair got its hands on the first-look photographs of the cast in full character, revealing a striking array of costumes against dusty desert backdrops.

These pictures are behind-the-scenes shots, not stills from the actual movie. However, we already get a sense of what this movie will look like; the earthy tones mixed with a space-age dreaminess. The sense of conflicting powers crackling below the surface, a far cry from David Lynch’s 1984 movie adaptation of the book.

Speaking with Vanity Fair, director Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2019, Arrival) revealed the film would be released in two distinct halves, explaining that the ‘world is too complex’ for the narrative to be trimmed into one neat, cinematic sitting.

Villeneuve told Vanity Fair:

It’s a book that tackles politics, religion, ecology, spirituality — and with a lot of characters. I think that’s why it’s so difficult. Honestly, it’s by far the most difficult thing I’ve done in my life.

Villeneuve also spoke about the contemporary significance of the film, which explores many of the same dilemmas we as a planet are currently contending with:

No matter what you believe, Earth is changing, and we will have to adapt. That’s why I think that Dune, this book, was written in the 20th century.

It was a distant portrait of the reality of the oil and the capitalism and the exploitation — the overexploitation — of Earth. Today, things are just worse. It’s a coming-of-age story, but also a call for action for the youth.

For those who are unfamiliar with the plot and premise of Dune, the novel is set around 20,000 years in the future, with humans having spread out and colonised planets far beyond Earth.

We as readers, and now as viewers, follow the story of Paul (Chalamet) who moves to the desert planet of Arrakis as a teenager with his high-ranking family.

Paul goes on to discover leadership qualities and superhuman powers, which ultimately propel the narrative forward and introduce various moral and wide-ranging dilemmas.

Despite plenty of exciting potential, the genius of Dune has so far proven difficult to bring to fruition on the silver screen.

David Lynch originally made a movie version of Dune back in 1984, but it was not well received. While a Dune miniseries from 2000 enjoyed some success, however there has yet to be a version that fans of the book hold close to their hearts.

Dune is set to be released in cinemas from December 18.
