Meghan Markle’s first post royal exit job revealed as she voices a Disney documentary on elephants | Daily Mail Online

The Duchess of Sussex‘s first gig after quitting the royal family has been revealed – with Meghan voicing a Disney documentary on elephants.

Her collaboration with the popular film making company is set to benefit the Elephants Without Borders charity – an organisation dedicated to conserving wildlife and helps protect the animals from poaching.

Meghan agreed to do the voiceover after a direct request from filmmakers, and it is understood that she recorded it in London this autumn after seeing footage of the documentary.

A trailer for Elephant failed to give fans a glimpse of Meghan’s narration – but it did reveal that the story follows a ‘family’s extraordinary 1,000 mile journey across Africa on an adventure that will change their lives’.

It comes after the Duke of Sussex, 35, was filmed touting his wife’s voiceover skills to Disney boss Bob Iger at the UK premier of Lion King in July.

The royal couple are currently in Canada with their 10-month-old son Archie and are self-isolating in their Vancouver Island waterfront mansion.

The Disneynature documentary will start streaming on April 3 on Disney+, three days after she and Harry quit as senior royals, the company revealed today.

It sees African elephant Shani and her spirited son Jomo as they are led by their great matriarch, Gaia, across the Kalahari Desert.

They will face dwindling resources and vicious predators as they try to follow their ancestor’s footsteps to a green paradise.

Last year, the Duchess joked that she and Harry attended the premiere of The Lion King in London, to ‘pitch’ for work, footage from the event revealed.

Make like Meghan in a little black dress by Jason Wu

The Lion King European premiere had quite a turnout, with Beyonce, Elton John and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex all making an appearance.

Meghan made a statement in a black fit and flare dress by Jason Wu for the A-list occasion. Sitting just below the knee, the glamorous black gown is designed with a sheer neckline and sleeves and a full skirt. We love the silk-satin finish, and how she completed the look with Nikos Koulis earrings, a pair of Aquazurra pumps and a Gucci clutch bag.

Sadly this dress has now sold out, but you can buy the jacquard-textured version at Farfetch now (click right), or recreate the look with one of the dresses lined up below.

The Duke was also filmed touting his wife’s voiceover skills to Disney boss Bob Iger at the occasion in July.

In the shocking video, Prince Harry pointed to his wife and said: ‘You do know she does voiceovers?’ A surprised Mr Iger replies: ‘I did not know that’, before Harry continues: ‘You seem surprised, she’s really interested’.

The Disney boss says: ‘We’d love to try. That’s a great idea,’ while Meghan, who was next to Prince Harry, continues speaking to Beyonce.

Meghan gave up a successful career as an actress – with her most prominent role being is US legal drama Suits – when becoming engaged to Prince Harry in 2017.

But the arrangement with Disney hints at Meghan’s future career plans, which could see the couple use their celebrity status to benefit chosen causes.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will officially end their roles as senior royals on March 31 as they ‘work to become financially independent’.

Last month, it was revealed that Meghan could make $100 million this year if she accepts all the offers that come her way, media executive Simon Huck has claimed.

Speaking to The Morning Toast Simon, 36, from Canada, owner of the public relations firm Command Entertainment Group, claims his agency was ‘flooded’ with ‘huge’ offers of work for the former actress in the wake of Megxit.

Simon, who is a close friend of Kim Kardashian, is not believed to be representing Meghan, but has been inundated regardless.

Meanwhile, bosses of The Simpsons have revealed they want the duchess to appear in their popular comedy.

It comes as bosses of the Simpsons revealed they’d like Meghan to do some voiceover work with them after the Duchess steps back from royal life (pictured: A Simpsons version of Meghan in front of Buckingham Palace)

Prince Harry, 35, and Meghan Markle, 38, as they arrived at this year’s Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey in London on March 9

The programme’s showrunner and executive producer Al Jean discussed the prospect of the cameo in an interview with the Radio Times, and said Meghan should ‘give him a call’ about the idea.

He revealed: ‘We’ve talked about Harry and Meghan. I hear she wants to do voiceover work. So if they’re reading this, give us a call.’

After visiting the UK for their final engagements this month, Prince Harry and Meghan returned to Canada, where they are currently living with their son, 10-month-old Archie.

The royal couple are holed up at their Vancouver Island waterfront mansion amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry has taken a keen interest in African conservation projects over the years and in 2017 he became the president of African Parks.

In May 2019, the royal couple were given a rare honour by Disney – a beautiful watercolour Winnie-the-Pooh animation to celebrate the birth of the new royal baby.

Hand-drawn by senior principal artist Kim Raymond, the heartwarming story depicts the world’s favourite bear delivering a book to Archie.

Blake Shelton Shows Off His Mullet Progress with Gwen Stefani | PEOPLE.com

Blake Shelton is working on his mullet with a little help from girlfriend Gwen Stefani.

Over a week after the singer, 43, announced that he was bringing back his signature ’90s hairstyle, he gave his followers an update on his progress.

Although Shelton’s hair definitely still has a lot of growing out to do, it’s now just long enough on the ends that Stefani can run her fingers through it, as a new video posted on the country superstar’s Twitter account shows.

Making sure her man’s new look really stands out, Stefani, 50, “decided to take it to the next level” by adding “stripes” shaved into the side of his head.

In addition to sharing the “Quarantine mullet update” video, The Voice coaches also posed together for a photograph while wearing coordinating camouflage looks (check out Stefani’s Crocs). “Our first quarantine photo shoot,” he captioned the shot, in which his new hairstyle is only partially visible.

Shelton went on to joke that the couple should have used the image to promote their duet “Nobody But You,” which was released on his latest album. “Should’ve been the Nobody But You cover… Damn it!” he quipped.

Shelton previously explained that he and Stefani decided it was time for him to grow out his hair again, as most of his work events are “canceled for the foreseeable” future due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

“I have an announcement. With basically EVERYTHING I had scheduled being canceled for the foreseeable further [sic] @gwenstefani and I have made a decision together. I am growing my mullet back as a symbol of hope or some s— like that.. Anyway it’s coming back! For real. Stay tuned…” he wrote on Twitter.

Of course, Shelton has been toying with the idea of bringing back his mullet for years now.

Back in 2017, when the star was crowned PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive, Shelton joked that it was finally time to rock the ‘do again.

“When I think of sexy, I think of my heroes and Billy Ray Cyrus was one of them,” he told Ellen DeGeneres. “With this new power that has been bestowed on me, I can bring the mullet back which makes it okay for any of us to have them.”

Earlier this year, the star also noted that the hairstyle was becoming more popular again.

“There’s kids that are wearing mullets now,” he said during a January interview with Gayle King. “And I’m feeling like maybe it’s time for me to bring mine back. I’m not a trendsetter. I don’t mind jumpin’ in on a trend like that.”

Stefani added that she’d “actually offered to go get him some extensions.”

“We could totally match the color easily. I’ll do it for you,” she said.

Prince Harry and Prince William in Touch Amid Coronavirus Crisis

Prince Charles revealed that he tested positive for coronavirus yesterday, and there’s understandably a concern amongst his family. The prince, who has “mild symptoms,” has reportedly been in touch with both of his sons, but it doesn’t look like Harry will be returning to England at this time. It makes sense—pretty much the entire world is social distancing right now, and flying to England would only put more people at risk.

According to a source who spoke with Daily Mail, Meghan Markle made it clear to Harry that “under no circumstances is she okay with him traveling anywhere right now,” which yeah, understandable. The source also confirmed that “Meghan said Harry’s been in touch with his dad….Of course, he’s frustrated. She said they both are frustrated because they are doers and want to do so much more to help.”

Meghan and Harry were able to spend time with the royal family before returning to Canada, and a source previously told Daily Mail that “Meghan told her inner circle of friends that Harry has been communicating with Prince William and the queen on a pretty consistent basis. She said this world crisis has actually brought them all closer together, especially Harry and his brother. Harry has made it very clear to them that he will do whatever he can to help from Canada. Meghan said they are grateful, especially Harry, that they could spend time with his family before all this insanity began.”

‘Portrait of a Lady on Fire’ to Start Streaming on Hulu Friday – Variety

Céline Sciamma’s “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” will begin streaming on Hulu on Friday, March 27, the streamer announced. Neon and Hulu acquired the movie out of the Cannes Film Festival in May, where it premiered in competition and won the Queer Palm and best screenplay.

In the United States, “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” was released in two movie theaters in December to qualify for the Academy Awards, but had its official domestic release on Valentine’s Day. Its platform release was interrupted by theater closures amid the coronavirus pandemic. It grossed $3.7 million in the U.S., and more than $23 million globally.

The film, set in 1770, stars Noémie Merlant as Marianne, who is commissioned to paint the wedding portrait of Héloïse (Adèle Haenel), a young woman who has just left a convent — they fall in love. The Sciamma film has drawn rave reviews. Variety’s Peter Debruge called it a “gorgeous, slow-burn lesbian romance.”

Hulu confirmed that “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” was premiering on the streaming service earlier than planned. “The film was scheduled for later this spring but we moved it up a little because the theatrical run, which began 2/14, was cut short,” a spokesperson told Variety.

The shutterings of movie theaters have caused a cascade of films to be rushed to digital services, including Universal’s “The Invisible Man,” “The Hunt” and “Emma,” along with the Warner Bros. films “The Way Back” and “Birds of Prey,” Pixar’s “Onward” and Paramount’s “Sonic the Hedgehog.”

‘Rick and Morty’ Creator Has a New Animated Series: Watch Trailer

Hulu has given us a first look at the new show from Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland and former head writer Mike McMahan. Titled Solar Opposites, the show has an uncanny resemblance to the creator’s typically bonkers style.

The show is about an alien family that escapes to Earth, not realizing that the planet is infested with humans. They settle into suburban America and have to do their best to blend in. Their only mission is to protect “the Pupa,” a living supercomputer that will one day evolve into its true form, consume them, and terraform the Earth.

Solar Opposites‘ full first season will release on Hulu on May 8. The series stars Sean Giambrone (The Goldbergs) and Mary Mack (Golan the Insatiable), as well as Roiland himself. And, if the new trailer is anything to go by, the show will channel a lot of the same outrageously in-your-face humor that made Rick and Morty so good.

Watch it below.
