Caroline Flack has been found dead at her London flat at the age of 40, her family has confirmed.
In a statement, the family wrote: “We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February.
“We would ask that the press both respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time.”
The body of the former Love Island host is believed to have been found at her London flat after a suspected suicide.
Caroline had been keeping a low profile in recent weeks after being arrested and charged with assault by beating following an altercation with her boyfriend, Lewis Burton, in December.
She is thought to have spent time in Los Angeles following her appearance in court, but returned to social media on Thursday.
Appearing in a number of photos with her beloved pet dog Ruby, she simply captioned the post with an emoji of a red love heart.
Caroline had been due to stand trial on 4 March after pleading not guilty to the charge.
Speculation sparked on social media surrounding Caroline’s death after a number of worried tweets from fans emerged on Twitter.
Caroline’s career began in 2001 when she appeared in a TV movie named Is Harry On The Boat? before she became a regular face on Bo’ Selecta.
After a number of theatre roles, Caroline made her name in TV presenting after landing gigs on Fame Academy and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’s spin-off show.
She also took the reigns of The X Factor for one year in 2015 alongside Olly Murs.
Despite the drama surrounding their relationship, Lewis has maintained he was still in a relationship with Caroline, and sent her a Valentine’s Day message on Instagram.
He posted a gorgeous photo of him and his girlfriend on a date night to his 41,000 followers.
Alongside the image, he wrote: “Happy valentines [red love heart] Love you [kissing emoji]”
The cute shot sees Caroline resting a hand on her head as she smiles for the camera.
Lewis and Caroline are dressed up for their date night, with Caroline in a white blouse. Lewis dons a crisp light pink shirt as he takes the selfie.
The sweet upload comes days after Lewis made contact with Caroline on Instagram, despite the court ban against them communicating.
