Luke Perry Left Out of In Memoriam Tribute at 2020 Oscars

Luke Perry was noticeably missing from the 2020 Oscars in memoriam tribute on Sunday, February 9, and social media users weren’t happy.

The Beverly Hills, 90210, alum died on March 4, 2019, after suffering a stroke at the age of 52. His passing came one week after the 2019 Academy Awards, so fans thought he would be featured in Sunday’s tribute section.

“He wasn’t in the In Memoriam montage, but let’s remember Luke Perry tonight, too ? #Oscars,” one person tweeted.

A second user wrote, “Luke Perry wasn’t in the In Memorial?? He was literally in one of the most nominated films of the night!! Disrespectful!! ? #Oscars.”

A third person tweeted, “I would like to know why Luke Perry was not in that presentation. RIP. #Oscars.”

Perry was featured in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which is up for 10 awards at Sunday’s show, including Best Picture. Brad Pitt already took home the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the movie. Pitt, 56, and Leonardo DiCaprio previously revealed that they were starstruck when they saw Perry on set for the first time.

‘That’s Luke f–king Perry!’” Pitt recalled saying to DiCaprio, 44, in their cover story for Esquire’s Summer 2019 issue. “We were like kids in the candy shop because I remember going to the studios and [Beverly Hills, 90210] was going on and he was that icon of coolness for us as teenagers. It was this strange burst of excitement that I had, to be able to act with him.”

The Ad Astra actor added that Perry was “incredibly humble and amazing and absolutely committed” to his craft.

“He couldn’t have been a more friendly, wonderful guy to spend time with,” Pitt told the magazine. “I got to sit down and have some wonderful conversations with him. It was really special.”

DiCaprio added, “I remember my friend Vinny, who is in the film as well, we walked in and we both had this butterfly moment of like, ‘Oh, my God, that’s Luke Perry over there!’”

Perry is survived by his son Jack, 22, and daughter Sophie, 19, whom he shared with ex-wife Rachel “Minnie” Sharp, and his fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer.

Keanu Reeves Walks Red Carpet with Mom Patricia Taylor at 2020 Oscars

Mother-son bonding!

On Sunday, Keanu Reeves brought his mom, costume designer Patricia Taylor, along as his date to the 2020 Oscars in Los Angeles.

Reeves, 55, is slated to present at the awards show and Toy Story 4, in which he voiced Duke Kaboom, earned a nomination in the Best Animated Feature category.

Ryan Seacrest chatted with the actor on the E! red carpet preshow about Toy Story 4 and then asked Taylor for details on The Matrix 4, which Reeves started filming.

“Nothing,” Taylor told Seacrest, 45, of what she could say about the upcoming installment. Taylor added that she “only about Matrix 1, 2 and 3.”

Many fans expected the Matrix star to bring his girlfriend, artist Alexandra Grant, with him to the Academy Awards. Reeves started publicly stepping out with Grant, 47, last fall. They were photographed holding hands in November while attending the LACMA Art + Film Gala, and a source told PEOPLE at the time that they have known each other and worked together for years.

“Keanu wants to openly share his life with her,” the source said. “He is extremely happy and grateful to have Alex in his life.”

According to the insider, the two started dating earlier last year but had “wanted to keep it quiet” at first.

The couple first collaborated in 2011 on Reeves’ book Ode to Happiness, with Grant providing the illustrations. The project was Reeves’ first book as a writer. They worked together again on the actor’s 2016 book, Shadows, in which Grant again provided the illustrations.

The following year, the duo co-founded X Artists’ Books, a publishing house that focuses on publishing “thoughtful, high-quality, artist-centered books that fit within and between genres,” according to its website.

The 92nd Annual Academy Awards are airing live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Oscars 2020: Sandra Oh and Blac Chyna among worst-dressed | Daily Mail Online

The Oscars are the final major award show of the season, and its celebrity attendees are therefore pulling out all the stops to ensure they make a real statement on the red carpet.

Unfortunately, not everyone hit the nail on the head as far as fashion is concerned – with Blac Chyna leading the list of worst-dressed stars at this year’s ceremony.

As always, the red carpet at the 92nd Academy Awards was full to the brim with sartorial crimes, from plunging necklines exposing far too much flesh to garish colors and puffy over-the-top gowns, with Chyna showing off a lot of skin in her barely-there ensemble.

Oh dear: Blac Chyna topped the list of worst-dressed stars at this year’s Academy Awards in her very revealing ensemble

How low can you go? The 31-year-old star showed off a lot of skin thanks to her plunging neckline and sky-high slit

Pout patrol: Chyna’s makeup made her look rather plastic and, coupled with the shiny S-wave hairstyle, gave her the appearance of a doll

Feeling the Force? Janelle Monae looked like a mix between Tin Man and Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi in her silver hooded dress

Metal mania: The 34-year-old singer had a rather large turning circle on the red carpet thanks to the full skirt, which was rigid rather than flowing

more videos

The black gown not only featured a plunging neckline that dropped to her navel, showing off Chyna’s assets to full effect, it also had a sky-high slit that went up almost to her hip – leaving very little to the imagination and allowing her to flaunt her large leg tattoos.

And as if that wasn’t enough of a red carpet statement, Chyna topped off the look with rather bizarre makeup and a shiny S-wave hairdo that gave her the appearance of a china doll.

It’s unclear exactly what Chyna’s connection to the ceremony is; the model is not nominated in any of the categories, nor is she thought to be associated with any of the movies that are involved.

Her attendance certainly raised a few eyebrows on Twitter, where a number of users questioned why exactly she had been invited as a guest at the ceremony.

‘Blac Chyna is at the Oscars?? And what did she do to her face??’ one person wrote, while another added: ‘They just let anybody in now huh?’

Floral fail: Sandra Oh’s dress featured a large amount of tulle embellishment that made the dress look almost comical

Over the top: The sleeves of the gown absolutely swamped the actress’s figure

Taken from nature: Kristen Wiig’s dress resembled a caterpillar thanks to the double layer of ruffles that ran down each side of the very structured skirt

Peekaboo? Olivia Colman’s dress featured incredibly bizarre cutouts below her shoulders that looked almost as though they had been added to air out her armpits

Unflattering: The cutouts and the folds of fabric that they created gave the gown a very unfinished look, and did little to enhance the Crown star’s figure

Daring to bare: Rooney Mara’s very gothic lace dress allowed her to show off a lot of skin, but the overall effect was more spooky than sexy

A third person commented: ‘Blac Chyna at the #Oscars who would have thought this day will come.’

However, the star was not the only attendee to miss the mark on the red carpet at this year’s ceremony – quite the opposite in fact.

Janelle Monae made quite a mark on the red carpet when she arrived in a costume-ish silver gown that resembled the outfit worn by the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz, but with the addition of a Jedi-style hood.

She was not the only person to suffer a fashion fail in silver though; Sibley Scoles arrived in a strapless metallic gown that was incredibly flattering as far as the silhouette was concerned, but looked as though it was made out of tinfoil.

Then there was Kristen Wiig, 46, who wore a baffling red dress that looked like a caterpillar thanks to the imposing double-layered ruffles that ran down each side of the skirt.

Flop: Molly Sims (left) followed in Chyna’s footsteps with the tacky low neckline and high slit combo, while Sibley Scoles mirrored Janelle in a silver dress that looked as though it was made out of tinfoil

Something different: Singer Aurora wore a very unique outfit that certainly made her stand out from the crowd – but not for the right reasons

What are you hiding? The very large skirt at the bottom of Lea Seydoux’s dress made it look as though she had something secreted away under there

Bad beige: The overall silhouette of 1917 screenwriter Krysty Wilson-Cairns’ dress was flattering, if a bit large for her frame, however the washed-out gold-beige color made the whole thing look like it had been stained with coffee

Pink puff: Catriona Balfe’s black gown was incredibly elegant and chic, however the addition of the puffy pink tulle overlay slightly ruined the ensemble

Awkward: Ryan Michelle Bathe also missed the mark in her pleated poofy gown that featured a rather dated and garish print

Her overall look was made all the more bizarre by the addition of black lacy detailing that could be seen poking out from the sides of the bodice, perhaps in an attempt to add some sex appeal to the insect-like gown.

Sandra Oh made an incredibly rare sartorial misstep in her puffy pink sequin and tulle gown that totally swamped her frame, and looked almost comical thanks to its enormity.

Another odd addition to the worst-dressed list was Olivia Colman, whose navy blue dress featured incredibly strange cutouts just under the shoulders, which looked as though they had been added purely to air out her armpits.

Unfortunately, the addition of the cutouts also caused unflattering folds of fabric to form around the armpit area, making it look as though the dress simply didn’t fit.

Singer Aurora hit all the wrong notes in her very unique ensemble, which she paired with chunky white sneakers, a very out-of-place choice for such an elegant event.

Brad Pitt criticises Trump impeachment trial verdict after Oscar win: ‘I don’t think we should let it slide’ | The Independent

Brad Pitt got political at the Oscars after criticising the verdict of Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.

During his emotional acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor, Pitt referenced the fact that the testimony of former national security adviser John Bolton was blocked.

“They told me I only have 45 seconds up here, which is 45 seconds more than the Senate gave John Bolton this week,” he said.

Sharing the full story, not just the headlines

“I’m thinking maybe Quentin [Tarantino] does a movie about it,” he continued, adding: “In the end, the adults do the right thing.”

Asked about his comments in the press room, Pitt said: “I was really disappointed with this week. I think when gamesmanship trumps doing the right thing, it’s a sad day, and I don’t think we should let it slide. I’m very serious about that.”
