BAFTAs 2020: Kate Middleton stuns on red carpet in white gown | Daily Mail Online

The Duchess of Cambridge stole the show in white as she walked the red carpet alongside a host of A-listers at the Baftas for the fourth year running.

Looking every inch the film star alongside her husband Prince William, 37, Kate Middleton, 38, dazzled in a stunning white and gold gown by Alexander McQueen for the star-studded event, recycling a dress she first wore in 2012.

Ahead of this year’s ceremony, Bafta bosses had urged attendees to ‘dress sustainable’ and encouraged to re-wear outfits, hire gowns or don vintage ensembles for the occasion.

The mother-of-three added a touch of glamour to the outfit by pairing it with new accessories, including a new pair of shimmering £525 Jimmy Choo glitter heels and an Anya Hindmarch clutch bag, as well as a new jewellery set, for 73rd annual EE British Academy Film Awards at the Royal Albert Hall this evening.

The couple, who have made it their tradition to attend the biggest night in UK cinema each year, beamed at one another as they took a seat alongside a host of other celebrities at the awards ceremony.

Wow in white like the Duchess of Cambridge wearing Alexander McQueen

As attendees of the 2020 BAFTAs were encouraged to wear sustainable clothing, we waited with bated breath to see which gown the Duchess of Cambridge would select from her wardrobe.

Since her first appearance at the prestigious awards show in 2017, Kate has donned two Alexander McQueen dresses, so it seemed highly likely she would favour the British brand once again.

She chose a stunning custom-made gown from her 2012 State Dinner in Malaysia. Designed by Sarah Burton, this floor-sweeping creation paid homage to her hosts with glittering gold hibiscus embroidery, accentuating the official flower of that country.

Kate updated her recycled look with a clutch by Anya Hindmarch, Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ pumps and extravagant jewellery from Van Cleef & Arpels.

If the Duchess has inspired you to invest in an Alexander McQueen dress, click (right) to shop the current collection at NET-A-PORTER. Or dazzle at your next event in one of the variations we have lined-up in the carousel.

The couple have made their attendance a yearly occasion, with this year marking the fourth time in a row they have walked the red carpet at the event.

The Duchess donned the stunning Alexander McQueen gown, having first worn the stunning gold and white dress during a tour of Malaysia in 2012.

The designer is a favourite for Kate, who has often stepped out in the British brand over the years.

The white gown was a bespoke piece made for the Malaysia visit in 2012, and is covered in gold Malaysian hibiscus flowers and layered over white flowing fabric.

The dress had been slightly amended for the BAFTA event, with the original sheer cap sleeves replaced with a more structured shoulder.

Meanwhile the Duchess also showed off some new jewellery on the red carpet, sweeping her locks back into an intricate bun to reveal a set of Van Cleef and Arpels dangling earrings and a drop necklace, which came with a pricetag of £7,603.

She sported glamorous makeup with a pink lipstick and a dark smokey eye, and swept her hair into an intricate up-do.

While Kate dazzled in the stunning white and gold gown, Prince William also looked dapper in a bow-tie and black dinner suit which he had also worn before, with a pair of smart black loafer shoes.

Ahead of the event, all attendees were provided with a guide by London College of Fashion for Sustainability, and it was widely speculated that Kate would rewear or recycle one of her many stunning gowns.

The couple appeared overjoyed to be attending the event for the fourth year in a row, beaming as they walked the red carpet at the star-studded occasion.

Holding her dress up slightly as she negotiated the steps, Kate appeared to thank a well-wisher who told her ‘You look beautiful’, while another added ‘You too Will.’

Celebrities and stars including Best Actor nominee Joaquin Phoenix rose to their feet as the royal couple made their entrance into the Royal Albert Hall this evening.

Earlier this month, the Duke attended a meeting with commissioning editors from across the broadcast industry to discuss the environment, the impact it will have on the programmes they create, and the way in which TV and programming can have a positive impact on repairing the planet.

And both His Royal Highness and The Duchess have supported BAFTA’s charitable activities by attending events across the charity’s learning programmes, including Young Game Designers and BAFTA Kids events, as well as others related to building cross-cultural collaborations with the creative industries in China.

Prince William, who is celebrating his tenth as the president of BAFTA, presented its highest accolade, the Fellowship, to Star Wars producer Kathleen Kennedy this evening.

The American film producer started her career working on E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and most recently has worked on the Star Wars series.

The Duke of Cambridge addressed issues around diversity before presenting Kathleen with the Bafta award.

He praised the ‘exceptional film-making’ that had been highlighted during the ceremony, and reflected on his 10 years as Bafta president, joking that he did not know if he should be ‘proud or slightly alarmed’ at how many of the winners over the past decade ‘have portrayed members of my own family’.

A royal date night! The couple appeared overjoyed to be attending the event for the fourth year in a row, having made the red carpet occasion an annual date in their diary

The Duchess showed off a new jewellery set at the event this evening, donning a stunning pair of drop earrings and dangling necklace from Van Cleef and Arpels worth thousands

William said: ‘Both here in the UK and in many other countries across the world we are lucky to have incredible film-makers, actors, producers, directors and technicians – men and women from all backgrounds and ethnicities enriching our lives through film.

‘Yet in 2020, and not for the first time in the last few years, we find ourselves talking again about the need to do more to ensure diversity in the sector and in the awards process – that simply cannot be right in this day and age.’

He continued: ‘I know that both Pippa (Harris), chair of Bafta and Amanda (Berry), Bafta CEO, share that frustration and continue to work tirelessly to ensure that creative talent is discovered and supported.

Kate swept her long brunette locks into an intricate up-do for the event at the Royal Albert Hall this evening

‘Bafta take this issue seriously, and following this year’s nominations, have launched a full and thorough review of the entire awards process to build on their existing work and ensure that opportunities are available to everyone.’

He went on to present the Fellowship award to Kathleen, praising her for her ‘remarkable career’.

While her husband spoke on stage, Kate could be seen watching Prince William avidly from her seat in the audience.

The royal couple have made the event an annual date in the diary, with the Duchess also opting for a white Alexander McQueen gown last year.

The Duke, who donned a black dinner suit for the star-studded occasion, presented the Fellowship to film editor Thelma Schoonmaker during the ceremony.

In 2018, the couple attended while Catherine was pregnant with baby Louis, and were also guests of honour in 2017.

Stars including Scarlett Johansson also pulled out all the stops for the event as she led the glamour alongside Little Women stars Florence Pugh and Saoirse Ronan, and Renee Zellweger.

Leading Actress nominee Scarlett, 35, borrowed fashion tips from the 1920s in a busty feathered gown as she graced the red carpet with her A-list competitors, Judy star Renee, 50, and Little Women’s Saoirse, 25, and Florence, 24.

Amber Heard admits to hitting Johnny Depp in audio clip, #JusticeForJohnnyDepp trends

The hashtag #JusticeForJohnnyDepp trended on Twitter after a recording was released of actress Amber Heard admitting to violence against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp

In the recording, Depp and Heard are having an argument when Heard says, “I can’t promise that I won’t get physical again. … I sometimes get so mad, I lose it.”

Both Depp and Heard have accused the other of domestic violence. Court filings show Heard’s own evidence, including photos of the alleged abuse–allegations that Depp has denied.

In a $50 million lawsuit Depp filed against Heard, the actor says his career has suffered as a result of her accusations against him.

In the audio recording of a heated fight between the two, Heard denies that she punched the actor saying, “I’m sorry I didn’t hit you across the face in a proper slap, but I was hitting you. I was not punching you.”

Depp responds by saying, “don’t tell me what it feels like to be punched.”

“I’m sorry that I hit you like this, but I did not punch you,” Heard reiterates. “I did not hurt you. I did not punch you. I was hitting you. … I did start a physical fight.”

In 2017, news of the couple’s divorce made headlines when Heard accused Depp of domestic violence. But now, some of Depp’s fans who have stood by him are feeling vindicated and weighing in on Twitter with trending hashtags #JusticeForJohnnyDepp and #AmberHeardIsAnAbuser.

“Listening to the full audio of amber and johnny makes my stomach hurt you can hear how terrified he is of her and how careful he uses his words trying desperately to not piss her off. the pain in his voice is so upsetting,” Twitter user @sallymisaa said.

Another user highlighted how men often keep quiet on the issue.

“Men for many reasons are often keeping quiet, not speaking up, not talking when they need support, not sharing their problems, not highlighting issues in society and protecting the unprotectable for a sense of loyalty or pride. That needs to change,” Twitter user @MAMentoring wrote.

TV producer Jesse Zook Mann echoed the sentiment.

“I have been in recovery circles of many kinds and stories of men receiving abuse are far too common. Johnny Depp is sadly not an isolated case. No matter your gender you deserve to be safe from abuse be it emotional or physical,” Mann tweeted.

Many users expressed anger at Heard for allegedly ruining Depp’s career, one even saying, “Can you imagine abusing someone and then purposely ruining their reputation by saying they abused you? Can you imagine getting them in legal trouble? Can you imagine being Amber Heard?”

Although fans have overwhelmingly taken to Depp’s defense, even hoping for him to be recast in future Disney Pirates of the Caribbean projects, some Twitter users have started using the much less popular hashtag, #JusticeForAmberHeard.

“Read all the documentation. They were toxic as fuck for each other. He was terrifying. She was absolutely awful. Sick as fuck together. Worst couple ever. Neither one was a Saint,” Twitter user @orphaned_annie wrote, along with both the #JusticeForAmberHeard and #JusticeForJohnnyDepp hashtags.

Depp and Heard began their relationship in 2011 and later got married in 2015 before starting the divorce process in 2016. The two became officially divorced in January 2017.

Rae Dawn Chong Claims She Had Sex With Mick Jagger at Age 15

Actress Rae Dawn Chong has stated that she had a sexual relationship with Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger in 1977, when she was 15 years old and he was 33.

The startling admission came via a series of interviews. While discussing her career with The Hollywood Reporter for an upcoming podcast, Chong was asked about her appearance in the music video for Jagger’s 1985 track “Just Another Night.” It was at that moment that the actress “accidentally blurted out” that she’d had sex with the rocker when she was 15.

Chong later clarified her comments during an interview with The Daily Mail, making sure to note that the relationship was consensual and that Jagger did not know her age at the time.

“He never asked me how old I was and I never told him. It never came up,” the actress explained. “I remember thinking he was really cute. He had tousled hair. I thought, ‘Oh man, he is beautiful.’”

“He did nothing wrong. He didn’t make me do anything I didn’t want to do,” Chong noted, fully aware that her revelation may cause controversy. “It was the 1970s, a different era. I wasn’t a victim. I don’t want him to get into trouble about this. It wasn’t traumatizing. I knew what I was doing. I wasn’t an innocent schoolgirl. I always acted a lot older than I was. I was a grown-up at 15.”

Describing herself as “a Lolita,” Chong recalled the sexual tryst as a positive experience. “He had great lips, he was a great kisser,” the actress remembered. “He wasn’t that much older than me in my brain. He was 33 and young and gorgeous with a nice body. It wasn’t a bad thing, it was fabulous. Totally rock ‘n’ roll.”

According to Chong, the two had relations on two different occasions; first after she attended one of the Rolling Stones’ recording sessions, and later after watching a Fleetwood Mac concert alongside Jagger.

“It didn’t traumatize me, it wasn’t a #MeToo moment, it was something that empowered me, too,” Chong explained. “I knew I had the power to pick and choose whatever man I wanted. I was keen to have every experience I could. Mick was part of that.”

The actress admitted she felt “incredibly bad” about making their sexual history public. “It’s me and my big mouth. My family and friends knew about it but it’s not something I have ever dined out on.’

In a 1985 interview with People, Chong declared that her and Jagger “were never romantically or sexually involved.”

Jagger has not commented on Chong’s recent revelations.

Rae Dawn is the daughter of actor/comedian Tommy Chong. Her film credits include Quest for Fire (1981), The Color Purple (1985) and Commando (1985).

Daily Mail has the exclusive on the audio recordings. These are conversations between Heard and Depp as they tried to work out their marital problems before filing for divorce in 2016. In the report, Heard owns up to throwing objects at Depp and saying, “I did start a physical fight.”

Depp’s statements reveal he’s against the violence in their marriage, “If things get physical, we have to separate. We have to be apart from one another. Whether it’s for f**king an hour or 10 hours or f**king a day. We must, there can be no physical violence towards each other.”

Now, fans are calling for #JusticeforJohnnyDepp on social media. The actor lost his contract for the leading role of the ‘Pirates of Caribbean’ in 2018, connected to Heard’s cries of domestic violence. Heard retracted her allegations and agreed to a $7 million divorce settlement.

Anyone who uses “believe women” to defend Amber Heard is also calling 10+ female witnesses & her own alleged female victims liars, only so that they can support a woman with an ever-growing abuse history.

In early 2019, Depp sued Heard for defamation after she came out with an op-ed piece on domestic violence on ‘The Washington Post.’  Heard filed a motion to dismiss the defamation lawsuit. Heard released new stories of Depp physically abusing her allegedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

tw abuse

Posted this LAST YEAR on tumblr and had so many fucking replies from assbags saying “there is no proof of amber abusing him” to every one who said that……you have audio evidence now… is that proof for you???? #JusticeForJohnnyDepp pic.twitter.com/GfrfYNWABq

Depp’s camp countered these claims once more and focused on how Heard falsely manufactures photos and videos to support her allegations. In mid-2019, Tara Roberts, an assistant to Johnny Depp, filed a deposition saying she’s witnessed Heard instigate the physical abuse on her former spouse.

A new witness (Tara Roberts) for Johnny Depp testified to having witnessed Amber Heard physically and verbally abuse Johnny Depp on his island. The full declaration in images. PDF to follow.#JohnnyDeppisINNOCENT #AmberHeardIsAnAbuser pic.twitter.com/Qcpqox8BT2

Kylie Jenner Threw Another Epic ‘StormiWorld’ Party For Stormi’s 2nd Birthday

Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott went all out for daughter Stormi Webster’s second birthday, hosting their annual ‘StormiWorld’ bash

Move over, Coachella; StormiWorld is the annual star-studded bash we can’t get enough of. For the second year in a row, reality star and makeup billionaire Kylie Jenner and rapper Travis Scott invested a fortune to throw their only child another extravagant, theme park-inspired birthday bash. This year, the tot turned two, so it only made sense to dub the annual party  “StormiWorld 2.”

“StormiWorld 2 is better than 1,” was the catchy slogan for the party inspired by her daddy’s Astroworld album and Houston, Texas festival. But, to make the experience more child-friendly, it included attractions themed after Stormi’s favorite movies, including Frozen and Trolls.

Guests included Stassie Karanikolaou, Kendall Jenner, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, and Hailey Baldwin, as well as Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West and their eldest kids, North West, 6, and Saint West, 4; Khloé Kardashian and daughter True Thompson, 21 months; and Rob Kardashian’s daughter, Dream Kardashian, 3.

Upon arrival, guest were handed maps to guide them through the maze of attractions, carnival rides, and games (many featuring prizes adorned with Stormi’s head) as well as a StormiWorld-themed store and bar. But first, they walked through an enormous inflatable version of the toddler’s head, flanked by hosts holding balloons.

Guests appeared to have a blast at the no-expenses-sparred soirée, posing several photos and videos on social media.

Earlier in the day both Travis and Kylie posted tributes to their daughter, who they welcomed in 2018 after months of speculation.

“2 Is better than 1,” wrote the rapper in a poem-like message to his daughter, which included snaps of her throughout her two years of life. “2 might mean more to me than to u, 2 things I do to live thru you, 2 remember ever thing I do wit u, 2 words I say before I leave from u, Love u Dad.”

“And just like that she’s two,” wrote Kylie. “Happy birthday to my Stormi. February 1st 4:43pm the moment my life changed forever. We were meant for each other stormiloo.”
