New Silent Hill Movie In The Works, Original Director Returning

In my restless dreams, I see that town… Silent Hill. They promised they’d take me there again someday… and now it looks like they are!

Surprising everyone, French director Christophe Gans casually mentioned that he was working on a new Silent Hill movie in a recent interview with Allocine. The beloved but long-dormant franchise has seen faint signs of life over the last week, as there’s been rumors swirling around the video game community that Konami is developing two new entries in the series (one an Until Dawn ‘choose your own adventure’ style game and the other a full reboot of the franchise). And now, it seems that the movie series has also been kicked back into gear.

The director was light on details about the pic, but explained that:

“The project will always be anchored in this atmosphere of a small American town, ravaged by Puritanism. I think it’s time to make a new one.”

Of course, this won’t be Gans’ first stab at the franchise. He was responsible for 2006’s Silent Hill, which isn’t exactly a cinematic masterpiece. The general consensus was that he’d nailed the visuals of the game but that the plot was incomprehensible and the dialogue was awful. Having said that, it was at least better than its sequel, 2012’s terrible Silent Hill: Revelations.

These unexpected revelations may mark a new dawn for Silent Hill. The franchise was famously planned to receive a new entry on PS4 courtesy of Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro. Sadly, though, when Konami restructured themselves into a gambling company, they cancelled the project and all we ever saw of it was the astonishingly brilliant PT demo. Here’s hoping that this new movie and the two rumored games can capture some of the unnerving psychological horror that made first few Silent Hill titles such landmarks in the genre.

Marvel Reportedly Plans To Introduce Miles Morales Into The MCU

After Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe wrapped up last year, fans were left wondering exactly where the franchise would go from here. After all, the ongoing battle for the Infinity Stones has (presumably) come to an end, and with a few of the original Avengers gone for good, it’s hard to predict exactly where Marvel is going to take things moving forward.

In particular, it’ll be interesting to see how the ongoing narrative will progress with our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. After the conclusion of Far From Home, Peter Parker’s secret identity was unjustly revealed to the world, and after a rather public fight over the future of the character, it looks like Sony and Disney came to an agreement, which means Tom Holland will continue to play Spider-Man (for now).

However, it looks like another contender has entered the arena, so to speak. Earlier today, industry insider Daniel Richtman took to Twitter to post about the MCU’s ongoing commitment to diversity and revealed that Miles Morales will be making his way to the franchise in the future.

Love where the MCU is headed diversity wise. We had an all white 6 Avengers at first but down the line we’ll get a black Captain America (Sam), Spider-Man (Miles) and Captain Marvel (Monica). Asian with Shang-Chi and Sersi and Muslim with Ms. Marvel and Blade.

Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 Fan Art Imagines Miles Morales’ MCU Debut

Now, it’s not entirely clear what kind of role Miles might play, but in a now deleted-tweet, Daniel also mentioned that Morales will be replacing Parker down the line. Though it’s unclear how far out this would be.

In any case, it’s hard to deny just how popular Miles Morales has become over the past couple of years, which could explain why Marvel would choose to add him to the roster. After all, Into the Spider-Verse proved wildly successful with moviegoers, and it seems that fans have taken a liking to Miles’ awkward, more relatable personality.

Still, we’ll probably have to wait sometime until Morales appears in the MCU. Thankfully, though, there’ll be plenty to watch in the meantime, as Sony’s sequel to Into the Spider-Verse is due out in early 2022 and Tom Holland is returning for a third Spider-Man movie in July 2021.

Netflix Claims People Have Watched 2 Billion Hours Of Adam Sandler Content

People have watched 2 billion hours of Adam Sandler content on NetflixNetflix

Adam Sandler might have appeared in his fair share of questionable films over the years but his fan base has proved rock solid as Netflix claims people have watched two billion hours’ worth of his content.

From Big Daddy to Click, 50 First Dates to Murder Mystery, Sandler never fails to produce content that will get people watching. They might not always enjoy it, but chances are they’ll give it a shot, because there’s just something lovable about the actor.

Sandler has proved successful on Netflix, with the original film Murder Mystery quickly becoming the streaming service’s most watched title of the year following its release in June 2019.

Adam Sandler Jennifer Aniston NetflixNetflix

The comedy, which stars Jennifer Aniston alongside Sandler, was streamed a whopping 30,869,863 times within just days of its release, according to Netflix, so it’s really no surprise that fans have binged their way through not millions, but billions of hours’ worth of the actor’s titles.

Netflix announced the figure on Twitter, adding Sandler’s fans will be rewarded for their dedication to the actor.

The tweet read:

Ya’ll [sic] watched 2 billion — yes *billion* — hours of Sandler on Netflix. Now the Sandman is making four more movies at Netflix.

Joining Murder Mystery on the UK streaming site already are Sandler classics Just Go With It, Happy Gilmore and That’s My Boy, as well as his most recent addition, Uncut Gems.

The highly anticipated new release arrived on Netflix yesterday, January 31, and follows Sandler as a ‘charismatic’ New York City jeweller who makes a ‘a high-stakes bet that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime’.

It’s a step in a different direction for Sandler, who is typically cast as the lighthearted ‘funny man’, but the film has a high score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, encouraging fans to give it a try.

Uncut Gems Adam Sandler

The new release could have contributed to the figure quoted in Netflix’s tweet, though we can’t know for sure as the company typically keep its viewing figures secret.

As such, it’s unclear whether the two billion hours have come from viewers worldwide or just in the US, but either way it’s an impressive achievement, and one that will only grow as Sandler’s new films hit the streaming service.

Adam SandlerUniversal Pictures

Speaking about the new films in a statement, Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix, said:

Whether you know him as Sandman, the Water Boy, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Nick Spitz or simply Adam, one thing is clear: our members can’t get enough of him.

They love his stories and his humor [sic], as we saw with Murder Mystery. So I could not be more excited to extend our partnership with Adam and the Happy Madison team and deliver more laughs around the world.

Even with two billion hours under their belt, I don’t think Sandler fans will get tired of the actor any time soon. Bring on the new films!

Spike Lee to Direct Film Version of David Byrne’s ‘American Utopia’ – Rolling Stone

Spike Lee will direct a film version of David Byrne’s American Utopia Broadway show, due out later this year.

Deadline reported Friday that production companies Participant, RadicalMedia, Byrne’s Todomundo, Lee’s Forty Acres and a Mule Filmwork, River Road Entertainment and Warner Music Group will produce the film version of the hit Broadway show, which ends its five-month residency at New York’s Hudson Theatre on February 16th.

“Pinch me,” Byrne said in a statement. “This couldn’t have worked out better for this project. Spike Lee directing and Participant producing — two socially engaged teams, well, three if you count us in the band, coming together in what I feel will be something moving, important, and unlike anything anyone has seen before.”

American Utopia is a true celebration from a great artist and a beautiful reminder to our nation that we are all born barefoot and wearing the same suit,” Participant CEO David Linde said in a statement, while RadicalMedia CEO Jon Kamen added, “Stop Making Sense is one of the greatest music performance films ever. To have the opportunity to revisit the genius of David Byrne with American Utopia and produce a bookend film with Spike Lee and [cinematographer] Ellen Kuras is a dream.”

The American Utopia film’s release date was not announced — though producers anticipate a 2020 release — nor was the movie’s release, whether on the big screen or streaming service, detailed. The Broadway show was born out of Byrne’s 2018 album of the same title.

In November 2019, after American Utopia opened at Broadway, Byrne spoke to Rolling Stone about achieving “American utopia.” “As I say in the show, sometimes it’s little by little, but the good news is that we can change. Not all of us have the same ideas we had when we were young — or our parents’ generation — whether that’s ideas about race or same-sex [marriage] or whatever it might be,” he said.

“A lot of things have changed where, when I was a child, it would be hard to imagine those things could change. Many of them have, and many of them have a long way to go. But the amount of change that there has been is kind of astonishing if you can remember where things were a few decades ago. So the fact that there is evidence of that happening is pretty hopeful.”

Guns N’ Roses dedicate “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” to Kobe Bryant at Super Bowl fest: Watch

Guns N’ Roses headlined the Bud Light Super Bowl Fest on Friday night. Prior to performing “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”, Axl Rose dedicated the song to Kobe Bryant, the basketball legend’s daughter Gianna, and the other victims of Sunday’s helicopter crash.

The show took place at the American Airlines Arena in Miami as part of a three-night music festival leading up to Super Bowl LIV on Sunday.

Fan-filmed footage shows Axl addressing the tragic incident, telling the audience that he noticed a dense fog across Los Angeles on his way home from rehearsal on Saturday night, saying it looked “formidable” and “ominous.” And then he mentioned how it was even worse on Sunday morning.

“I want to dedicate this to Kobe and his daughter and everyone on the flight … their families, and everyone hit by this terrible event,” said Axl as the band launched into its famous cover of the Bob Dylan classic.

During the performance of “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”, images of Kobe and Gianna were projected on the screen behind the band during Slash’s extended guitar solo. Watch below.

At the same show, the band took time to hang out backstage with rapper Snoop Dogg, who opened the concert. Both Snoop and GN’R posted images of Snoop posing with Axl, Slash, and Duff McKagan. In his Instagram post, Snoop joked, “New member of the group @gunsnroses.” See below.

Gang of Four Guitarist Andy Gill Dead at 64 – Rolling Stone

Andy Gill, founding member and guitarist for the British post-punk outfit Gang of Four, has died at the age of 64.

Gill’s current band mates Thomas McNeice, John Sterry and Tobias Humble announced the guitarist’s death Saturday on Twitter. A rep for the band said that Gill died at a London hospital following a short respiratory illness.

“This is so hard for us to write, but our great friend and Supreme Leader has died today,” Gang of Four wrote. “Andy’s final tour in November was the only way he was ever really going to bow out; with a Stratocaster around his neck, screaming with feedback and deafening the front row.”

The band continued, “One of the best to ever do it, his influence on guitar music and the creative process was inspiring for us, as well as everyone who worked alongside him and listened to his music. And his albums and production work speak for themselves. Go give ’em a spin for him…”

“Andy, often cited as one of the world’s greatest guitarists, left his mark on his own music, as founding member of Gang of Four,” a rep for the band added. “In pioneering the band’s sparse, jagged sound and looping feedback, Andy also inspired and informed generations of musicians. A ground-breaking composer and a brilliantly innovative producer, he worked with artists including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Stranglers, the Futureheads, Michael Hutchence, Bono, Therapy and the Young Knives.”

The politically conscious Gang of Four formed in the late Seventies in the wake of the punk explosion, with the band fusing punk with funk and reggae, all punctuated by Gill’s jagged and incomparable riffs. Gang of Four’s 1978 debut LP Entertainment! was listed as one of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Album of All Time.

As Gang of Four’s lone full-time member, Gill served as guitarist and producer on all nine of the band’s albums, including 2019’s Happy Now; following co-founder Jon King’s exit in 2012, Gill remained Gang of Four’s last original member.

“When you’ve been around awhile, I think some people want to hear you do what they consider classic Gang of Four, whatever that is. Some sort of retake on Entertainment!” Gill told Diffuser in 2014. “But with what was happening then, the sort of sounds I was making in 1979 were a response to what the environment was then musically and lyrically. That’s what I’m doing now, but the world has moved on. I don’t want to do something that sounded like then, which belongs to the here and now. I don’t spend much time thinking about that, I just get on with it.”

As a producer, Gill worked on the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ self-titled 1984 debut album; Flea credited Gang of Four as a major influence, as did Kurt Cobain, who listed Entertainment! as one of his favorite albums in the posthumously published Journals.

Tom Morello wrote of Gill Saturday, “One of my principal influences on the instrument as his jagged plague disco raptor attack industrial funk deconstructed guitar anti-hero sonics and fierce poetic radical intellect were formative for me. So glad I got to see him and revel in his incendiary art and wry wit several times over the past year. He was really, really fucking great.”

“His uncompromising artistic vision and commitment to the cause meant that he was still listening to mixes for the upcoming record, whilst planning the next tour from his hospital bed,” Gang of Four tweeted.

“But to us, he was our friend – and we’ll remember him for his kindness and generosity , his fearsome intelligence, bad jokes, mad stories and endless cups of Darjeeling tea. He just so happened to be a bit of a genius too.”

Meghan Markle’s first post-Megxit job will be a Canadian reality TV show | Daily Mail Online

Meghan Markle is already making plans for her first gig after quitting as a senior Royal, according to a new report.

Meghan, 38, will make multiple appearances on the upcoming Canadian reality show ‘I Do, Redo,’ which is about couples planning a second wedding after disaster ruins their first ceremony, a source tells Page Six.

The show, set to air on Netflix, will be hosted by Toronto wedding stylist Jessica Mulroney, who is Meghan’s a close friend and confidant.

It follows Meghan and Harry’s vow to become ‘financially independent’ after stepping down from the Royal family. Representatives for Meghan did not immediately respond to an inquiry from about the reported gig from.

The show, set to air on Netflix, will be hosted by Toronto wedding stylist Jessica Mulroney, seen above with Meghan Markle in 2016

Meghan’s guest spots on the new show will be ‘sporadic,’ according to the source.

Union scale for a guest role on Canadian TV is $588 a day, though it’s unclear whether Meghan will be paid.

The 10-part reality show ‘revisits first-time wedding disasters before re-making the wedding dreams of 10 devoted couples,’ according to a press release.

Meghan herself was married twice, divorcing her first husband before marrying Harry in a ceremony viewed around the world.

‘We are aiming to make a significant difference in the lives of our chosen couples whose first weddings did not go as planned due to tragic circumstances,’ host Mulroney said in a statement about the show.

‘This is a side of the wedding industry that has never been shown on television before,’ she said.

Jessica Mulroney befriended Markle while the American-born actor was living in Toronto where she was filming the television drama Suits.

The two women reportedly bonded over a love of yoga. Mulroney’s social media also includes photos of the two taking trips together.

The Mulroneys are also reported to have played a role in Harry’s courtship of Meghan.

A biography of Harry titled ‘Harry: Life, Loss, and Love’ quotes a source as saying that Markle may have fallen for the prince after she saw just how much the Mulroney children adored him.

Mulroney has reportedly maintained her close relationship with the couple as she and Harry headed toward marriage.

Markle is reported to have asked Mulroney to help plan their wedding.

Mulroney is said to have flown in to London four days before the big day to help her friend get fitted for her dress.

‘She is Meghan’s best friend and the person Meghan trusts with helping to plan every detail,’ a source told Vanity Fair.

‘She’s the one helping Meghan to make all the key decisions. They are on the phone daily discussing every element of the wedding, from the dress to the flowers to the canapés and the photography.

‘Meghan is very dependent on Jessica and Jessica has been totally indispensable.

When Meghan and Harry announced their plans to quit as Royals, Mulroney leaped to her defense, posting the message: ‘A strong woman looks a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink.’

Last August, Mulroney took to Instagram to slam the British news media as ‘racist bullies’ for criticism of the couple’s decision to use a private jet.

‘When someone faces unfair criticism, you call it out. When that person is your friend and your family, you call those critics what they truly are. Shame on you, you racist bullies,’ Mulroney wrote.

She added: ‘Three years of undeserved hate and abuse. It’s enough.’

It follows Meghan and Harry appearing to fish for voiceover work in unearthed video while attending The Lion King premiere on July 9 where they spoke with some of Hollywood’s most influential figures.

Footage shows Harry praising his wife’s voiceover skills to the film’s director Jon Favreau as Beyonce and her rapper husband Jay-Z look on.

In the clip Harry tells Favreau: ‘If anyone needs any extra voiceover work…’ before Meghan interrupts and jokes: ‘That’s really why we’re here – it’s the pitch!’

Harry then says ‘… just not Scar’ – a reference to antagonistic Lion King character who tries to steal the kingdom from Simba.

At the same event, Harry also touted Meghan’s acting chops to Disney CEO Bob Iger, 68, in a move the seemed to surprise his wife, former TV host Willow Bay.

Prince Harry (left) touted Meghan Markle’s (far left) voiceover to The Lion King director Jon Favreau (right) during the movie’s premiere in July

During conversation, Harry asks: ‘You do know she does voiceovers?’

Iger can be heard replying: ‘Ah, I did not know that.’ Harry then responds: ‘You seem surprised. She’s really interested.’ The Disney chief then says: ‘We’d love to try. That’s a great idea.’

The exchange came months before Meghan was hired by the company to work on a Disney project in exchange for a donation to Elephant Without Borders, a wildlife conservation and nature research charity.

Meghan and Harry announced on January 8 that they intended to ‘step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family’ and split their time between the UK and North America.

Since then, they have been living on Vancouver Island in Canada with son Archie.

Pamela Anderson and Jon Peters Split Less Than Two Weeks After Wedding

Pamela Anderson and husband Jon Peters have split less than two weeks after tying the knot in a secret wedding.

“I have been moved by the warm reception to Jon and my union. We would be very grateful for your support as we take some time apart to re-evaluate what we want from life and from one another,” the Baywatch alum, 52, said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday, February 1. “Life is a journey and love is a process. With that universal truth in mind, we have mutually decided to put off the formalization of our marriage certificate and put our faith in the process. Thank you for respecting our privacy.”

A source tells Us Weekly that it was Peters who called it quits, and the couple never actually got a marriage license.

As previously reported, the former Playboy model and the Hollywood producer, 74, wed in a private ceremony in Malibu on January 20, which was attended by Anderson’s two sons, Brandon Thomas Lee, 23, and Dylan Lee, 22, with ex Tommy Lee as well as Peters’ three children.

The pair, who each have been married four times before, met in the ’80s at the Playboy mansion. Peters helped to launch Anderson’s career, paying for voice, dance and acting lessons and helping her land her first TV role on Home Improvement and later on Baywatch.

“Pamela has never seen her full potential as an artist. She has yet to shine in a real way. There is much more to her than meets the eye, or I wouldn’t love her so much,” the A Star Is Born producer told THR one day after their nuptials. “There are beautiful girls everywhere. I could have my pick, but — for 35 years — I’ve only wanted Pamela. She makes me wild — in a good way. She inspires me. I protect her and treat her the way she deserves to be treated.”

“I’m incredibly happy for my mom and Jon,” Brandon said in a statement to Fox News on Tuesday, January 21. “They’ve known each other for over 35 years, and I wish them luck in this next chapter of their lives together. I will support the happy couple however I can, and I’m excited to get to know Jon’s family even better.”

In addition to Tommy Lee, Anderson was previously married to Kid Rock and Rick Salomon, twice.

Peters was previously married to actress Lesley Ann Warren and Christina Peters and had a 12-year relationship with Barbra Streisand.

Meghan and Harry ‘furious her dad Thomas Markle has dragged her mum Doria into feud’ | Entertainment Daily

It has been claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ‘furious’ with her dad Thomas Markle for reportedly ‘dragging Meghan’s mum into the family’s public spat’.

A report by The Sun Online today suggested that the couple are angry with Thomas because he wrote to his ex-wife Doria Ragland in an attempt to rekindle his relationship with Meghan.

Thomas has reportedly not had any contact with his daughter for 18 months, after he missed her wedding to Harry due to heart problems.

He also reportedly upset the royal couple after selling photos of himself to paparazzi.

Meghan’s dad has reportedly written letters to his ex-wife (Credit:

Thomas got divorced from Doria, 63, in the late-Eighties, and his ex-wife is still close to Meghan.

She was present when the former Suits actress married Harry at Windsor Castle in May 2018.

And it was claimed in The Sun Online’s story that Thomas has written to Doria in a ‘desperate’ attempt to be reunited with Meghan.

A source told the website: “Thomas’s attempt to bring Doria into the whole thing is a desperate move.

“She is a completely innocent party in the whole thing. If Meghan decides to speak to her dad again, it will be her own decision.

“[Meghan and Harry] don’t want Doria dragged into any of this and to become a pawn for Thomas to use. Doria doesn’t do conflict.”

Ent Daily has contacted reps for Meghan and Harry for comment.

Harry and Meghan released a statement last month, announcing that they’re taking a “step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family”.

Together with their eight-month-old son Archie, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will divide their time between the UK and North America.

In a recent Channel 5 documentary, Thomas Markle: My Story, Meghan’s dad made it clear what he thinks about their decision, claiming that they’re “cheapening” the Royal Family.

He said: “They’re destroying it, they’re cheapening it, they’re making it shabby.

Meghan is estranged from her father (Credit:

“They’re turning it into a Wal-Mart with a crown on it. It’s something that’s ridiculous – they shouldn’t be doing this.”
