If you’re a fan of the Mortal Kombat series, things are looking up right now. Between a live-action movie coming in 2021, Joker DLC coming to Mortal Kombat 11, and the upcoming animated movie–Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge–it’s a great time to be a fan of this long-running, ultra-violent franchise.
The upcoming animated movie will be released sometime this spring on Blu-ray, DVD, and digitally, and yes, it will be rated-R. The first Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge trailer has arrived, which IGN had the scoop, and you can check it out below.
From the looks of the trailer, the film will follow the life of Hanzo Hasashi, the ninja who would eventually become Scorpion and would seek revenge on the man that killed him, Sub-Zero. In addition to that, we’ll get to see the Mortal Kombat tournament, where fighters from both Earthrealm and Outworld fight each other to protect their worlds.
The upcoming movie features an extensive cast, which some names that you probably know, including a perfectly cast Johnny Cage. Check out the full list below.

This animated film isn’t the only Mortal Kombat movie in the works. There is a live-action one from Warner Bros. on the way, which is shooting in southern Australia. Many members of the cast have already been revealed, including Kano, Sonya, Sub-Zero, Lui Kang, and Jax. The live-action Mortal Kombat movie will arrive in March 2021, roughly a year after Scorpion’s Revenge.
